we need a serve -power stat restriction !!???

Postby GOA MASTER MDMA » Mon, 04 Apr 2011 15:58

first ,sorry for starting a new thread ,didn´t found the topic where it was right to post this

you guys know ,i´m not a big fan from restrictions in topspin 4 ,i like the game
but one thing itst really must take a eye on it .i´m sure you already know the problem .

its the SERVE ,
the serve in relation with power and stickberserker focus coach we need a restriction .

when someone have all together (95 serve +95 power +berserker coach ) its nearly immpossible to return.
and when you have luck to return ,the point comes with next shot into the open field .

very easy gameplay , no need for big skill

that can´t be ,
i really hope that maybe we/itst can do something to reduce this unrealistik dominant serve -coach kombo .

is itst planing something about this??

i´m not generelly against a high power stat ,only in combi with high serve +berserker coach

This was really annoying for me, but I found the way and I'm winning every single match against these guys, but I guess it's hard to win against them for many gamers.

I don't even know if I will really play this Game for the next 2-3 Years.

But I have to admit that I defended the Service to much in the Beginning.
If almost everybody says the real big Serve in this Game has to be tweaked then this has to be accepted ofcourse.

But I reall think 2K Sports does a S-h-i-t against it.
It's the same Thing with the Crosscourtangles which are still a Secret for me.
I just don't understand how some Guys are able to hit them so easy and that I can't.

But that's for sure a Secret I could explore with Training. The Problem is I don't know if I am really motivated to learn it. The Crosscourt Angles are for sure no tasks for a Master-Brain and I don't believe it so complicated that it's comparable to the Strafejump in Quake 3 Arena.

Ofcourse it would be a big Challenge to be competitive against the big Guys here and I know I would have it what it takes for sure so soon I master all game-deciding Gameplaymechaincs but I'll see.

First of all its possible to counter berserker serve. And no i dont think there should be a restriction to that.
At least you could say that stats should be 90 or below. But even then I belive any decent server would still kill you :).

If you cant anticipate that good and your return shots are simply too bad to re-positioning yourself to get into a rallye... well then practice against guys from here that got around 90% 1st serve on the line with berserker serve.

And to you Sinna. I read so many post from you the last weeks. I thought you were just as euphoric like me to have top spin 4 finally here.
But then I saw some of your other topics like whining about game mechanics and now this.
I dont know how you play nowadays but i watched your game vs Norberto where you had berserker serve and your serve was just terrible.

That u made no aces there is not the reward of norberto exclusively and your shots in general werent that impressive. Bad timing, positioning and how you control your left stick is the key and you clearly need more practice.
Otherwise you should see that this game is pretty much balanced ( besides some bugs that still occur ) on the "highest" lvl that is played after this period of time.

I like to use power against them, the return serve counter is helpful, it's why I'm on an annoying streak with djok as I can't stop playing with him until I lose. Also I think the semi volley king helps as if the ball gets onto too quick/standing too close can still pull off bs shot.

But can't have a cp with semi volley king and return serve counter.

I have to be honest, I find return serve counter to be 100% useless. I have it on two of my three WT characters and it really seems to have no effect. I do a precision flat return with perfect timing result and my return is still a soft floater that leaves me out of position and ready for an easy shot to the other side of the court.

I think a return serve counter should be more powerful against powerful serves, and that doesn't happen. For example it should be about a normal return against a 90mph serve and should be a blistering return against a 118mph serve. THAT would make sense and make it worthwhile, to force your opponent to mix up the serves to avoid your strength, but right now it feels like a wasted coach ability slot.

It's not all stats, eg sampras has 83 serve (not the highest) and 74? Power and 77 forehand, but I normally get 15+ aces a match :)

Mmm Since I have only used it with novak maybe it the semi volley perk, but with novak I have being doing crazy returns like clean winners and I'm not tapping/ctrl return I'm doing normal shot but perfect time and it can return back to them with interest. I haven't being able to do same thing with other characters so not sure what part of novak is the part that helps me most.

The serve return ability only works (or is supposed to work...) when you do a precision well timed flat return. It's possible that either the description is wrong or the ability is set wrong however, since it really does nothing.

Ok although you hit a return with "perfect"it doesn't mean it was perfectly hit at the right time.

I mean sometimes when you're defending in the rally. You can hit a perfect floaty shot. Which is still perfect but has zero power on it.
So if your return says perfect but is flating it wasn't well timed lol :-)

For me I think we should just ditch the coaches all together. Or only use silver coaches.

That makes no sense - if the timing indicator says "Perfect" how could the timing not be perfect?

Remember that the "perfect" doesn't mean on how hard your shot will be but where you hit it. Like it needs to be perfect in front of you . Not released too early not released too late.

So you can still hit a perfect shot that is loopy. But there is no power on it.....
