What's the point of putting lots of females on the roster when either nobody knows who they are or they all play the same way.

there are pleanty of big names and they mostly play very differently, look how many different grand slam winners we have just this year, everyone who knows tennis knows who wins, Li Na and Kvitova for example i think everyone knows about, and Sharapova who wasn't included, the whole world knows about her, don't you agree?

Sharapova has been around for a number of years and is hyped up by the fact she is pretty, is Kvitova likely to get the same coverage I doubt it.

Sure Li Na wins and it's great but she is approaching 30 as is Serena, Stosur, Schiavone, Venus.

Also I know it's 9/11 but the womens final is by no means a sell out, and it features an American. I'm sure you'll struggle to see empty spaces when the men play their final.

Exactly. When the William sisters retire, no one in America will care about womens tennis. And no, not many ppl in America know about Sharapova, and most games are directed towards the US (usually). Also, after Henin retired, all top women play two ways: pusher or ballbasher.

and now Stosur you can add to the list of GS winners for this year :)

yeah i get what you guys are saying, i do agree that wta definately isn't as popular and there are less superstars compared to the mens so in effect there are fewer world-wide known women tennis players

however, and i may be alone, but i find the women's tournaments more interesting sometimes as it's unpredictible, i never would have picked any of this years winners, for example i was sure the US Open would be won by either Serena or Zvonareva

for a video game, it would be hard to choose the women as so many women are winning these days outside of the top 5 / 10 seeding, as a pose to the mens (just look at the top row on TS4, it's your superstars) but i would still like to see more variety, and i still stand by the fact i think there should be an equal amount of men and women, just to be fair on the people who aren't big men's tennis fans or who just buy the game for fun who aren't tennis fans. (though i think anyone who buys this game has to like tennis a little)

But what you like about womens tennis is what ppl hate about it. The WTAs top players are NEVER consistent. They can be amazing ball bashers one day, and DF machines the next.

if svetlana, azarenka, Li, kim, serena stosur, schivone, kivtova all played well often the wta tour would have something to sell.

i mean for me kuznetsova vs schiavone AO11 was the best match this year i saw the deeper that third set went the more quality all -court tennis they produced in the Melbourne heat clearly carrying injuries too.

the wta needs it's top talent producing results week in week out and then they will have something to sell the talent is there t

Exactly, when you watch a GS semi or final, there's a MAJOR difference in quality between men and women.
I'm a better than average amateur player, and it looks like I could beat some of the top players in the women's game.

duude i feel the exact same way, they make way too many double faults, and dont seem to have tactial read of the game(expect maybe wozincki and stosur did that pretty good in the USO) and none of the(except williams) seems to be able to confirm their service in a regular basis, so they all depend on breaking the opp serve.

BTW: i like women tennis, but it absolutely cant compete with men´s, anyone thinks im wrong look at Nadal and Djok final, and look at Serena v Stosur final. Galaxies apart.

well the women seem to want to up their game, they're forever changing coaches and apparently trying to perfect things, i hope it pays off for them!

what would be ideal, to me, would be if all the women upped their game and got a lot better, so it still stayed unpredictible (unlike the mens) but the quality of play was a lot better, not as many faults and unforced errors.

on a similar note

Look, this is exactly the same for male players who lose frequently. Changing coaches often is imo a sign of weakness.

I agree entirely. This scenario would be fantastic.

And I would love for Ana to be in the mix again. Especially so if she's sponsored by a company that makes faulty socks that slip.

did you watch schiavone vs kuznestova cos it was as good as fed vs nole FO and USO even better if you consider they weren't 100% percent. on the whole wta tour doesn't hold a candle to the men but there are good players there it's just they aren't as consistent as the men and serve horribly.

m it was the longest match in women's slam history and it had every thing in the USO nole saved two match points schiavone saved FIVE in the match in the heat kuznetsova saved match points and lots of break points two find a way to watch the whole match and you will see what i mean.

I for one hope that Stosur can ride this momentum for a while. She played like a dude (the commentators mentioned lol) in the final against Serena, and it was a brilliant match on her part. Serena wasn't really thinking out there...

On the men's side... Nole was brilliant this year. Outstanding... and it looks as if nobody is gonna be able to dominate like he did next year, so I expect another great year for Novak in 2012.

On the gaming side... I think they should put more legends in the games for the women. Put the Williams sisters, Hingis, Navratilova, Evert, Pierce, Seles, Graf, Sanchez-Vicario, Davenport, Capriati, and Ai Sugiyama (lol JK!!). But more legends for the women would be smart. And they should make the Bryan Brothers an unlockable bonus for doubles matches.
