I'm completely bored of playing 100 power guys online. Is it too much to ask that defensive players ACTUALLY be able to wear down offensive guys? Did 2K even test that? I've never watched a tennis match in real life where a guy can hit a winner on any groundstroke and the other player has to guess on every shot. It's ludicrous. I beat 75% of these guys in tiebreaks, but it takes all the fun out of the "tennis" game.

I think we should all be forced to play with players with nothing but 40's on the stats.

That will truly show who is the best!

I'm not asking for a perfectly-balanced game, because I know that's impossible. But I wish for once a tennis game would operate under the laws of reality and make every player type beatable by someone who is better at the game using another player type.

Man, real life players like Karlovic and Roddick must really take the FUN out of IRL tennis.

Because almost all IRL players can't do shit against their serves until the tiebreak, either.

And people get pissed in this game when they get aced 17+ times.
Cmon guys, you need to have serve be so weak that you get it into play every time against RODDICK or it's unbalanced?

Really?

They always miss the most fundamental aspects of the game. Every game in the series allows you to hit flat, down the line shots too easily. In TS4, they've added the insane crosscourt angles, which ironically, are now the only shots you can't return down the line. The geometry of the game just isn't there, so there's not enough risk in hitting low percentage shots.

The biggest problem with the serve is that it's just too easy to go for the lines every time. On the small chance that you might miss the first serve, you know you can just try again on the second. Again, just too much reward when going for the low percentage play. I wouldn't mind that my opponent is getting free points off 15 aces in a match - but I should be getting a few off double faults as well.

Just a few small tweaks could make a huge difference.

Truth!

Guarantee you Karlovic and Isner suck all the fun right out of a tennis match!

With sampras I don't know if he has some hidden extra attribute lol or whether its just me, but if I go for a flat 2nd serve its usually a very good serve, I get a lot of 2nd serve aces and rarely miss, where my 1st % is only around 60-70% usually which is pretty realistic.

And I'm completely cool with that type of player. But in real life they have WEAKNESSES. They can't get to about every ball and punish it 120mph into a corner. They can't serve from out in alley and hit unreturnable balls into the corner on every single serve at 145mph. They can't hit balls that are low around their feet easily for winners and make you guess every single shot. Also, those types of players take up about 2% of the pro tour. The top spin tour is about 50% power/serve hulks. I play a guy who literally hit the same serve 90% of the time, didn't use a single top spin shot, and was powerful enough to hit flat to the left or right every service point and be unbreakable. Somehow I thought the top spin series should require a little more art, skill, finesse.

They have weaknesses. It's easy to win against them. Just find your way mate.

I think you're missing my point. I'm not saying I can't win. I'm just saying that the matchup does not at all resemble real tennis!
