Welch Topic

Postby DennieFR1908 » Sun, 25 Mar 2012 13:12

Just want to create this topic for some things..

I've been asking around a little, and what I noticed is that about every player not using Welch, thinks Welch is unfair. Spoke about 7 people about it now, and 100% (!) tought it was a cheesy setup.

So this topic can be used for proove against Welch. I would like to see some things.

1. Your oppinion about Welch (why u think he's cheesy)
2. Your season record against Welch
3. Your season record against other coaches

The other thing this topic can be used for, is djarvik's idea to test welch against other setups, if you voluteer for this just tell me. But I think these statistics will also show some eye catching results. The more prove the better.

I'll give the example.

1. I think Welch is cheesy because of there 1 dimensional type of play. characteristic for Welch players is that they lack the power to make normal winners and play every ball short cross when they have the chance (short cross is an unrealistic shot that barely happens in real life which gives you alot of advantage, detirmened by this site as "cheesy"). They also have a Monster Defense kind of skill, a good Welch can keep the ball deep the entire mach, way to easy, making it almost impossible to play against with lower wings.

2. All my losses this season are against Welch. 1W/4L (20%)

3. Overall record this season without Welch players 13W/0L (100%)

Here you go, I hope people who said they would respond to this will also do so, so I won't look like a fool :D The more results we can get the better it will be.

I don't remember all my matches on PS3 v Welch but off the top of my head:

Beat Fifa Tee's Welch when I didn't use Welch.
Beat Poumadoro's Welch when I didn't use Welch.
Beat BOB-L-EPONGE-06's Welch when I didn't use Welch.
Lost to Godzin's Welch when I wasn't using Welch.
Beat Murmeltier's Welch when I was Welch.

Lost to the best on ITST (Dennie) when neither of us used Welch.

Hope this helps your survey.

Why did you lose and quit against Poumadoro in a Welch v Welch match Dennie?

I should've never took Welch that match, I hate to play against him but I hate to play with him even more, it's to boring and one dimensional. Motivation dropped to zero so I quitted the match there was no point to continue timing was ruined.

And ofcourse you can beat Welch man, you're probably the best of ITST but I'm not talking about the very best of the site, but about the "avarage" player.

i m going to begin my explanation about welch:
firstly, i want to say that i ve been using welch six months and i have left him because i think that it s unfair for your opponent.
the main reasons of that welch should be banned are these:
1. it s almost impossible to beat him because his speed is too high and at the end points are really boring.
2.levels in forehand and backhand (90- 90) allow that control shots hadn t any problem and a player can hit shots over the lines.
3. with 55-63 power welch can really hit great powerful shots and that isn t realistic.
in this season, i ve only played two matches and i ve won 1 agains tino perf 0-6 7-6 7-6 but i made the best match of my life. i ve lost the other match against doluprane 6-2 5-7 7-6.
that s my opinion about welch. although i ve used i have to say that he s completely unfair.
my season: i have won 19 matches and i ve lost 9.

google traductor:

I agree with Dennie, play against welch is not fair when you do not play with welch.
It's more in tennis, when I against Welch, the games are not fun, since players are at 75%, short shots cross, it is unstoppable.
Increasingly, players take Welch, I think ITST is most boring, because there is less and less diversity in the set-up.

on 17 losses (WS + MS), 7 against Welch, it's a lot.

I ask for the interest of the site boundaries, be made on the wings and on the speed, because playing with Welch, is like playing with Monster Defense.

I played as a single game, with welch against you, that's my only game with this season. during our match, I have not done a lot of time, short cross.
The problem is that players like murmeltier, only make moves, short cross. its not a real tennis, isn't it?

Pfffft.

Welch pre patch was beatable but pre patch power was stronger and meant he was beatable.

Any way Welch is unfair because it makes good players great and great players excellent. Much like pie ching quial. The lack of power is an advantage and can still hit extremelly strong control shots. Can reach evrything.

I'm tired of ppl saying You need 2 have great timing 2 use welch, well this is ITST I expect evry1 2 have great timing

My record that I can remember is 1-3 vs welch. My win vs Welch was a tough 3 setter tie break win against a guy I have beat many times in straight sets

It bemuses me that management do nothing abput this. It is a clear problem.

Babb n gallo have glaring weaknesses. Welch weaknesses are not weaknesses but strengths

I am going to retract this statement for you  there is a lot you don't see on the forum. Trust me when I say, we actively debate the issue.

And this is good thread Dennie, really helpful at this stage. I hope more will contribute and will throw more names in this thread, like Baab, Rabarri and Gallo. This is the most interesting to me. How the players who use these coaches on daily basis do against the Welch. We know already how the rest are doing and thinking...we need more feedback from the other "extremists".

Not all the forums are visible to all members my friend. We do need our private areas to discuss such things.

Anyway, check out a screen shot below, look at the date. I have been "on top" of the Welch issues a while back. Before the Patch etc... he has always been a good coach and somewhat a problem area. But no one complained for almost a year.

Image

I think you guys need to understand a bit better how we work. We really do know our games, or we bring on board someone who does. All these potential problems were evident to me within the first month of the games life. Nothing new here....

We have discussions about everyday issues. On going discussions. Much like in a public forum. But one exception is that we don't bitch and try to set a personal agenda aside. So when I hear an argument - "I lost to Welch so he must be overpowered" it drives me mad a bit. Don't even mention it as far as I am concerned. I am just ignoring these much like the "Can you play now?" match arrangement PMs. There have to be more sold arguments, comparing etc...then this.

Anyway, I can see how not knowing that we actually talk to each other (hosts, management) you can have an impression that we do nothing...or that I am somehow preventing things from happening and etc.

When ANY of management team posts - he posts OUR opinion on the subject. We have a consensus on the matter. I am a bit more active in these type of discussions, but don't make me a target. I am not a sole decision maker in the community. We make decision collectively and our Management Team is second to none as far as I am concerned. Between Cro, who does so much, inducing writing all the News at this point, Rob and Xavi who are as level headed guys as you will ever find and Floris, who practically built this place. I just think any statements of Management not doing anything is soooo freaking offensive. So much of my personal times goes into this project, from so many sides...sometimes, it is hard to feel appreciated. Every other thread as of late had some kind of dig towards us.

Anyway, enjoy your day guys.

Welch was beatable back then.

It was still a tough match but 2 even matched players it could gp either way.

Now Welch 8/10 times

I don't want Welch banned I want a lvl 18 welch.

Seriously DFB is strongest playstyle but 90 90 is 2 much

I apoligize if it sounded like a dig towards you and your team of monkeys.

As an avid member and supporter of this site it sometimes feels like our concerns gall on deaf ears.

Look w/out you guys it would be a lot worse.,

This thread hopefully goes 2 making welch beatable again

I have been a Welch user since the beggining of the tour. I wanted a non power (or normal power) baseliner, and Welch was the only coach that filled in that category and was competitive. I hadn't another option. Gallo, Babb, rabary or Neuwirth are all of them power players. If Welch is banned we will only have power characters to choose

I have to addmit, that is really annoying and unreal to play against him. In fact i stopped to use it, because that and because i was tired to play with him. But i think, HE ISN'T OVERPOWERED, or at least not more overpowered than Rabary or Babb. For ex Rabary can reach every ball and create short cross court angles like Welch, and Babb can ace you, even when you know where your opponent is going to serve. With neuwirth you can get impossible control short angles too.

I PLAY SIM AND MEN, and 3 months ago i started playing WOMEN TOUR (using neuwirth). i've won/lost the same percentage of matches, against the same players, with same results and i have similar ranking in the 3 tours. So i think that what really matters is your own skills, not the coach what you use.
