Secret to Control Shots?

Postby aMPLIFLIER » Mon, 06 Feb 2012 07:36

- Its no surprise that the higher your reflex stat the easier it is to hit those control shots consistently.
- The pro's with the best stats for control shots Agassi, Djokovic, Nadal, and Murry no surprise they are the best returns.
- It's not impossible to hit control shots with players with <70 but it requires timing the shot perfectly.
- Which brings me to return of serve which most players struggle with and can be solved with reflex stat >=70. Also I find it much easier to return serve by holding down the shot and releasing it at the right moment.
- The timing of this varies by the opponents ability to serve bombs or just roll it in. The faster the serve the quicker you have to depress your shot or smaller the window you have to make your shot. The weaker the serve the longer you hold onto your shot. The best servers vary between pace and placement. So it may take a few games to get there habits down. Once you start to challenge your opponent on serve you will see there 1st service % decline and you will have better opportunity to win the point by double fault or a strong return that you can can win the 1/2 punch.
- I tend to release the shot just before the bounce this lines up with perfect to good timing. I can't stress enough that you must watch the ball particularly the bounce.

Hope this helps?

nope..it has nothing to do with the reflex stat

- The pro's with the best stats for control shots Agassi, Djokovic, Nadal, and Murry no surprise they are the best returns.

nadal has only return 61 and he still the best control shots player. This is the best prove that the reflex stat has nothing to do with accurate or power of control shots.

The secret is simple: "counter shot" skill and/or monster defense. nadal has both of them...

- It's not impossible to hit control shots with players with <70 but it requires timing the shot perfectly.

absolutly not. i play with power 63 and constantly hitting hard control shots in wt mode due to monster defence.

Its all about counter shot skill and monster defence. Just try it. Pick Agassi or Joker and hit a bad control (power) shot...than pick nadal and do the same and you will realise the bad control shot of nadal will be much more accurate and powerfull.
Agassi forever!

I think he wanted to say ">70 forehand or backhand" not power. Or maybe <70 reflex?? I don't know, but its really posible to hit incredible fast control shots witha lot of angle with for ex. 62 BH. Shot counter helps a lot, but look at Welch, maybe the best "control shot" setup in the game (with low reflexes and without SC or MD as skills). So, high wings, best control, imo. But of course the secret is the timing and the place where you hit the ball

FH BH

then

SPEED

then

REFLEX

Most important are strokes, they determine how big is your timing window. Then speed, as the next important factor is positioning and speed gets you there. Then come reflex, it determines how responsive your player is to your commands.

Skills that help with Control Shots:

- Shot counter.
Works best against power shots. Improves your flat control shot but reduces your other control shots.

- Top spin invasion.
Greatly improves timing window on your top spin shots, thus improving your top spin control shots. Reduces the effectiveness of other control shots.

- Slice invasion and Poison slices.
Improves your control slices. Poisson slices will make control slices stay lower, Slice invasion give you a better timing window for Slices over all.

- Reach swing expert.
Makes all your control shots on the run better.

All skills essentially help with control shots, it all depends what you are looking to do on the court and how you play. Stamina is probably the next import thing you can have (after the above). Control shots means that you are likely to be involved in longer rallies.

Hops this helps you.

Yes and it will create 20 others.

Just sit and wait in no time there will be people whining about every little aspect of the game.

I´ll buy it though.
