A young man in need of help

Postby Chris ITST » Thu, 19 Jan 2012 18:38

Right guys first off, I love TS4, Comparing it to TS3 it is lightyears better and its actually got me playing back on here and actually enjoying it. Firstly ill tell you where i am at. Been playing last few months and getting better, gladly opted for many beatdowns against good players and its starting to pay off, In terms of flat rally exchanges i normally find myself getting the upper hand against most players. One thing i have noticed is and i dont quite understand yet, is how so many of the tops guys get away with hitting really poor length and instead opt to constantly look for slow and more often than not angled shots, its a clever tactic dont get me wrong, it gets my guy moving like a mofo, but it seems like its too easy to do and its frustrating me a little. I think my problem is i am trying to relate real life tennis too much to this and its never going to be quite exact.

Could someone explain there patterns of play to me? I.E how you mix your flat with control shots etc to make it effective, i think i am nearly there with it now but i definately find myself baffled.

Secondly what your most commonly used serves are and the least returnable serve's? STICK OR BUTTONS?

My TS4 ITST Career so far by the way: 0-6 0-6 Polca

0-6 0-6 0-6 Norberto H

Close games but something clearly missing here.

Help me!

One final thing: Whats the most commonly used setups amongst the top players? I beleive the gamer possesses the skill but im just intriqued more than anything.

Anyway people, talk to me and let me hear your knowledge.

Hmm, IMO you should use 90% of your shots controled ones with flat and top spin trying to dislocate your oponnent then you use a power shot to kill the point.

More used setups are Rabari and Welch, i personally like the welch 0/2/18.

Serves i dont know it have always been the weakest part of my game.

Yeah, our match was effectively close, but you just can't finish the points. Flat shots are good but not all the time, as said Loki 90 % or maybe 80 %.
Personnally I only serve with the stick and try to do different things during the match, indeed do shots you've never done before is in most of the cases a point you'll win. That said, I'm far far away of the top players so I don't think my advice are necessarily good, but you should just try :)

Sorry for my english.

Thanks for the tips guys, been using more control shots especially flat and top spin with a welch setup and i am already seeing massive improvement and oppurtunity.

Rob :)

I must admit i do miss our chats about sex, summer glum and top spin 2. And i can see why it does remind you, its because we had each other kneeling before zod quite a bit in our ts2 h2h.

Get on MSN sometime.
