Character Development Poll

Postby JJ_DUBZ_87 » Sat, 05 Nov 2011 01:37

Hello guys and gals 8)

I'm looking for insight as to which player build to go with when I return to the ITST tour in Top Spin 4. What are your thoughts, and ideally, which one would you use and why?

From your experiences what are the pros and cons based on your play and based on the opponents you have faced?

I've did extensive research and character setup arithmetic, and these are the final ones that I want to test out before I hit the tour again. The coaches aren't gonna change, so each example is a locked duo (the player and the coach).

Poll Template: Player Name - FH / BH / SRV / VOL / POW / STA / SPD / REF (Coach Name - Extra Skills)

Some interesting choices you have here. Personally of what you have on here I think C, D and E are all good choices. A lot of guys like Neuwirth and if you brought the BH up a bit that would be a top choice. Also I do like Matthew Grody but would probably opt for one of his higher wing type builds.

The most drastic changes I'd make would be FH/BH = 80/60 for Neuwirth (I want that player to have a clear weapon) and 62/72 for Grody. Looking at those stats alone I'd favor the player with Neuwirth over Grody.

Yeah well I'm not a huge fan of Semi Volley King. Shot Counter is definitely one of the most popular skills in TS4 right now but for me if I have a guy with SVK it screws up my timing a bit with other characters. 60 looks a lot better though I would just personally rather have something like a 66/72 or 75/75 something where the wings don't get too weak to the point where they can be exploited. Since you've got some builds with decent volleys you could really control the court with a setup like that and then aim to finish at the net.

I've actually used Semi Volley King/Shot Counter and it's one of my favorite setups. It gives you a playstyle that is very similar to Agassi, who loved to take the ball right off the bounce. It's a very deadly combo, Semi Volley King lets you take it on the rise which takes time away from your opponent while Shot Counter allows you to hit crazy flat shot with extreme control and angle.

SVK is effective with control shots as well?

Yeah it works on all balls that bounce you can hit it how you want. It just changes your timing window basically and shifts it to be a bit earlier.

I can deal with that.

A seems to be taking the cake on this one...
