I'm pissed off!

Postby farshad » Wed, 20 Jul 2011 22:21

Okay...i really am! I've never been a bad loser, whenever i lost , i went back to career mode or exos and practiced so i can improve my game.
but im really pissed off this time and i feel like being a bad loser actually!
i was playing WT today on shanghai masters.
First round was against a player with 98 power!
second player was 100!
and guess what, the final was against another guy with 100 power!
i feel like playing against the same person all the time..yeah i lost the final(my mistake, i lost some break and set points) but WTF is this power thing?
why the hell everyone is using it? eighter they win in rallies shorter than 2-3 , eighter they lose the point! nothing else is there...the goddamn stamina never finishes! i sent him from one side to another and he was still hitting the same ball with empty stamina...
im getting SICKKKKK!
sorry guys...i just needed to say it outloud.

power guys are easy 2 beat but you need to bring them forward short slices will give u an opportunity to attack them and you have to keep doing it not just once every few games has to be constant. what type of player are you using incase maybe thats the problem

Thanks for the advise! i'll keep that in mind.
i think the most important thing against power players is to read their game very good, once you know where the ball is going to land...they are finished.
I have an almost all around player.

i rushed to the net so much and used a lot of drop volley , the funny thing was he sent a message for the overusing of drop shots  they have some good nerves! they use power shots 24/7 non-stop...

ok kl your problem is your backhand obviously as they can attack that with power and get a short reply that they can finish off i would maybe suggest getting a 12 -8 defnsive player with mario dipesa as he has fatality which means if you hit into the open court it will go right into the corner if hit well and se gives you much better forhand and backhands fore example 85 forehand and 72 backhand which should be good and about the same amount of power but more speed.

His setup is fine. A weak wing only gives you more options, not less. You need a better strategy.

I play with 52 BH and 52 power and routinely beat 100 power guys on WT and IR guys from ITST. The ones who beat me are truly just better players.

Try to improve your game plan rather then fall into "better stats" movement.

I feel your pain Farshad, but like I sent to you on PSN after our friendly match (you had already gone offline  ), I'm trying to find ways of coping with the power guys, as they aren't going away any time soon.

Djarvik's right; we have to work on our game plan and strategy to put things in our favour.

In my ITST match I played this evening, I worked on using lots of short balls, especially short cross court shots and mixing in deep & short slices - to try and pull my opponent away from the baseline. The idea being to bring him closer to the net for passing shots, or pull him wide to open up the court.

My main problem was I hit too many mis-timed shots, so the ball either sat up and was blasted away, or went out.

On the positive, I was able to make the rallies last longer than usual, but even when I drained his stamina down, he was still able to hit great shots. :(
I used to think I was indecisive... but now I'm not so sure.

No, I agree with you. There are two roads to take:

1. use the popular strong setups
Fits most players who are looking instant gratification. Doesn't improve your game much. Makes it tough to switch to a more SIM like setup.

2. try to play with the setup you really want to play
Will take more time and requires dedication. Even thou it may not look like you are improving much, a quick journey to the popular setup side will actually show you how much you did improve. Developing a strategy that goes beyond simple press early, aim left - release, aim right - release. More fun.

By the looks of the player of choice of OP, he is more of a 2nd category guy. After all, discovering "popular" setups to use doesn't require more then a few minutes with calculator or a few matches on WT or a few matches on ITST.

If you are a beginner like I am you should have a power setup and see how ridiculously easy it is to overpower other players in world tour because the game just gives you lot of advantages for power and doesn't punish you much for low speed.

I personally feel the game dynamics favors extreme setups whether it be DB, SV or OB.

If you are in allrounder camp or sub 80 power without any good stats on fh/bh you better be able to play this game pretty well to stand a chance.

Ahhh that was what i've been waiting to hear for soooo long, i even made a topic and asked this question if must change my player or i will be alright by more improving. thanks a lot! im in peace now.
.................
since i dont find MULTIQUOTE , i reply to other answers in this one.
Alex, honestly, i made another player with better backhand and power stats and won some easy matches but never liked the way i played! i enjoy so hard when i play with my current player, i can finish points at the net and if i play smart, i usually win against good average players(not very good ones yet) but i feel my improvement! it was HUGEEE..i was losing 3/0-3/0 2-3 weeks ago against power guys or even some normal good players, but its a different story now so i see my level of playing is much higher than before...thats a good sign. so im hoping as djarvik said, i'll play smarter and better with more practice.
thanks for the answer and strategy help once more.

Man,it was 1-2 AM here when we finished the match and i was so sleepy, thats why i sent you the message and went to sleep:D sorry!
you already improved a lot since we first played.
i had the same problem with mis-timed hits, what i did was playing career mode without game helpers on very hard mode(don't play it on easy) it makes you weak.
play career without any ingame help, more WT match and you hit with much better timing.

 this username of yours makes me laugh.
I completely agree with you about almost all you said, but my problem is im not after winning easily, im after winning with style...the way i enjoy it.so i prefer to suffer longer and improve which i believe will make me a much more complete player than any power guy.
if you play great with an all around player, you must be very good at what you do..and thats my goal.
we'll see how it goes.
..............
about my low backhand, one thing that realllly bother me is when my opponent hit a short cross court on my bh side! i really don't know how to react to those balls?
...
Thanks guys for all the answers and oppinions...it always helps! as an example..i dont remember who but someone said here to return power guys with a slice at middle of the court...THAT WORKS GREAT:D
everyday im learning something new..thanks to ITST members.

I agree it can be a bit ridiculous at times. I'm an all-rounder and as someone already pointed out - you pretty much have to short slice to bring them in.

A weak backhand doesn't mean anything if you can consistently get perfect timing, just don't try to hit sharp angles with it because your ball is going to land short in the middle more often than not.

If anyone has got some pointers other than short slicing, I'm all ears as I need them too!

Each player-system has a weakness. You just need to find it to master the top spin world tour. Some people think 20 offensive is the best way to play at the moment, and maybe it is. It all depends on the skill of the user whos behind the 20 offensive-character.

Right now I play with 20 serve-volley, Stefan Edberg, gamertag I Sgt Shiva I. I have won plenty of matches against 20 offensive-guys. A trick is to play a short slice shot to force the player into the court, then you play a quick longshot to the 20 offensive-characters feet. If he´s not as good as me at the timing on those shots he will miss.

Promise you that you´ll win. Good luck now.

Over and out - Shiva.
