WT is pretty easy to be honest, you shouldn't be having much trouble beating most of the guys there regardless of their setup. I was surprised to see myself already top 10 in the rankings after just a few matches.
It is the itst guys who are impossible to play already..the difference between wt and itst is extreme

lol ur right WT is easy, and it is easy to get to the top of the rankings. My match results for WT is usually 80-90% wins... and my all-around woman player is in the top 100 and undefeated in tourneys...(she'll be top 10 very soon...but the guys tour is MUCH more busy)

Just to inquire Mack what's your setup and playstyle?

Something like 77 power, 92 forehand, 72 backhand, 72 serve, 62 speed, 49 reflex and volley so yeah quite offensive though not overwhelmingly so

I'm trying to be considerate and not make a power baseliner and take him/her to the top of the rankings, but I'm tired of losing.

I want to win, and although my records are fair with my all-around guys and with my defensive baseline players, the power seems to always be winning. The huge serves and dominating groundstrokes that (and I'm not just saying this, other GOOD players on the ITST have said the same thing) take advantage of the loopholes in the game that are rapidly surfacing.

SO...what is a guy to do? Granted the opponent is thinking "heck yeah that was awesome" but really? I don't think so. A dude with 96 power and a 95 serve and you think you're something special? Please...

What do you guys think? I'm honestly thinking that all-around isn't gonna cut it for me anymore, I need to focus on dominating from the baseline, or building a SOLID defense. Open for input and opinions.

oh man, i hear exactly what you are saying. now, no more mr. nice guy, lol. ;->

Do you guys have a general tactic against the power servers? How can you return those serves with a decent chance of winning points?

Tap or hold slice to return, I`d say. Then you`ll hopefully get good depth on your return and the pace of the ball is slow (which will make it harder for your opponent to hit a winner straight away).

I find the topspin return the easiest to get decent results with actually. Just hold down the topspin button, and hold up and slightly towards one corner. The goal is to get the return as deep as possible. Short returns are a recipe for disaster.

i use flat and top spin against super servers. flat shot if u hit it perfect and aim u make a return winner or he can only get to it with a bad shot.

But against big servers i mix my returns up alot.

Just keep mixing up your returns, usually topspin and slice though. I find flat return very hard to time consistently. Also, try a control return, followed by a more powerful one, etc.. You might get lucky and string a few decent returns together. I played a guy in WT tonight who was a serving machine, despite only having a 74 serve. I never managed to break him but I picked a few solid returns in the tiebreaks and managed to beat him..very satisfying and I felt my willingness to constantly mix up the returns paid off :)

Oh and if your opponent is constantly slice serving..I have no tips for that. I actually feel there is a little glitch or something where your player does not respond to the slice serve when returning..he kind of shuffles and then darts in the wrong direction, or maybe that is just me :?

LOL yeah Jay I wouldn't message somebody saying that, but I'm at the point now where if you play the game better than me, :tu

lol at least I don't lose EVERY time I play... my records on WT are like 80% at least, so I can't really complain. I'm just learning all I can and trying to have as much fun as I can.

It's just the power game is SO easy and it makes everything easier in terms of offense... and SO many people play that style and refuse to change and then consider themselves great players. A "great" player to me can beat me using more than one kind of play style...then again if I want to become a "great" player myself, I have to take my lumps and grow and get better at MY game. So kudos to the guys that are good! And if you beat me, again :tu lol

Shows you how much more competitive ITST is. If you have that record here, you're top 5.

LOL true that! ITST is MUCH more competitive. At best (like...ABSOLUTE best...) I'm top 35...top 45. On WT I'm sure I can crack the top 10. As I stand right now I'm 50% w/l in women's and men's play on the ITST. I am interested to see how much the scale tips in either direction though lol.
