hi,
ive been wondering what others do on here, and how they are hitting the ball. Do you mostly use power charge shots or control shots. which are best in your opinion? do you use both?
Does anyone have a method against the over powerful players? Feels like TS3 on world tour at the moment with too many hard hitters!
lets share tactics and good technique!
Personally i find it easier to use just power shots and tend to use top spin a lot as everyone seems to use wide angle play constantly. I came across a vicious slicer yesterday and i managed to beat him by using very short wide angles with top spin which made him shorten his slice and come in to net!

from my own experience i found that playing with lots of variety is what works the best. That may be only for me though... i hit control shots most of the time switching from topspin and sometimes slice (rarely flat control shots) then use some charged shots to end the point or when in desperate situation. It works quite well but sometimes i get pissed by shots along the line which lands in the middle despite perfect timing and position. What i don't get is that sometimes it works like a charm and sometimes in the exact same situation with perfect timing the ball lands in the hand of the opponent in the middle so i lose the momentum of the rally and usually the point. Weird.

Well to me it seems the vast majority online bunt slice block returns all the time and then pretty much hit slice short balls. I have playerd a ton of people that this pretty much is all they do. So I spend the entire game in now mans land it seems. Of course im terrible at this game but i think you have to play with mostly control shots.

Shot variety seems to work really well against some players. One thing that I'm happy to see works is the drawing a player inside of their baseline by short slices and the firing a long flat shot right at them. It jams them up and often they get a mishit or wide return.
In world tour unfortunately it's mostly cheap tactics - anything to win a point.

Dude, honestly you just have to be ready for anything. Everyone is capable of everything in this game. I've played so many with so many different playing styles that I know I must be ready for anyone and to never underestimate an opponent.

Make sure you have a high power at least 80+. Since most players have high power in ts4, you will either need to counter that with high power or really good control shots. Remember, the speed of power shots going away from you at a devastating angle can be very difficult to handle with control shots. I know this since I've gone 300+ matches undefeated in ts4.

You know it really depends on the Player or Character you have have.
As I played the Demo in the very first Days I didn't knew much about the Controlshots for example and tried to beat Nadal with Federer from the Baseline like a offensive Baseliner with just using simple Powershots. Everybody told me how easy the hard CPU is and I din't understood it because I had Problems against it. At this Point I lost more Matches against the hard CPU than I have won. But so soon I understood how to mix my Shots and using Controlshots with a Allrounder like Federer it was getting easier ans easier and after a few Days the CPU had no more Chance against me and I finally understood what these Gyus meaned with the CPU Difficulty.
You can decide a Match with a strong OFB Guy by just using Powershots. The ITST Mate VFB Fan I played against and where you see a Match in the Media Center plays the Match exactly like Virtua Tennis for example by just using Powershots. He told me that during the Match. And he is doing that with his Power Guy so strong that I had almost no Chance. Ofcourse you need a good footwork if you want to do this too but it's clearly possible.
But what I wanna say is that the Tactic really depends on the Player you play with.
