New anti-glitch procedure

Postby BrushedBigJJ » Thu, 18 Apr 2013 13:25

Some backround information for those that do not understand what I'm talking about when talking about the glitch. Ever since Topspin 4 got its first patch it has been possible for people to play with the previous patch (which means your movement, groundstrokes, returns, and serve are better) while others play fair and play under the current patch. Its a huge advantage. Iluvbillval came up with a procedure to help stop those that would try to exploit the glitch:

viewtopic.php?f=1036&t=16190&hilit=glitch&start=90

ILuvBillVal wrote:This is an updated plan for players to connect glitch free for now. Instead of both connecting to the World Tour, do the following:

Both players start up Top Spin 4 and pause at the ball machine screen. Your opponent's status should read "Playing Some Balls." This will effectively bypass the point in which the player would have skipped over and entered into glitch. Also it won't involve going to World Tour where many players have stated the glitch can be continued. Once both players have reached this point either could send the invite, but the other player would have to completely back out again in order to try and achieve a glitch.

Important notes: You and your player must both start at the Dashboard before doing this. Neither you or your opponent should be hidden in your status. If either player goes offline and comes back online into the menus during this process they are effectively trying to glitch and need to start the process over.

The reason I am writing this post is because there is even a way around this to still be glitched. :? So I came up with a new way that doesn't require the dashboard.

My friend Burna and I even made a video:

You can start anywhere in the game but its best to start at the main menu. You must watch the other player to make sure they do this right. So one person goes while the other watches their profile. Back out of the main menu page and go to the title screen. When someone goes back to the title screen it should just say "Topspin 4" and nothing else on their profile. Then press start and after everything loads immediately start the ball machine and stay there. The person watching the profile will see it go from Topspin 4, to navigating through menus for 30 seconds or so and then playing some balls. From there someone can send an invite and the match can start. It is very important to watch your opponent when doing this after they back out and it shows Topspin 4 it shouldn't be much more than 30 seconds to get to the ball machine, that's the main thing you are looking for to make sure they are trying to glitch.

This is mainly for the xbox 360 side because going to the world tour does not make sure you have the patch and there are several people on the world tour that wouldn't dream of getting on the world tour without being glitched, which is quite pathetic. I think on the PS3 side the patch is also applied before you are allowed to enter the world tour.

For now I suggest doing what Iluvbillval suggested first, then do what I just explained, until there is more feedback to make sure there aren't any holes in what I was saying and someone sees an easy hole around what I suggested.

Yeah, I think the problem is that you can still be glitched even with the best of intentions, it happened to me the other day with Fij&Chibz, where you can connect to World Tour and still be glitched. I've never known a game be so troubled my these problems even if you are not intentionally trying to cheat, and it tends to happen more to my WS player then my MS guy.

It's harder to tell at the moment if you are glitching also compared with past updates, as I think there is a topic here somewhere that describes the way the game plays now as more like the earlier patches, so it's more difficult to pick up on when the game is played at a faster pace. It seems like you can get more angles and depth on shots but you can still not be glitched now so I find it hard to tell unless someone picks me up on it.

It really annoys me that I could be winning matches being glitched and not have the faintest idea, I hope they fix this for the next Top Spin.

Is difficult know it. I´ve played with them and they play really well but I I felt defeated before playing. I remember that I beat Fifatee playing with Tomic(me Nadal) and was really really hard even winning 6-1 6-1 in 30 minutes.
