Tournament draws

Postby Sh0Case » Mon, 09 Apr 2012 14:38

How do they work?
What does the seeding dictate?
For example; the latest tournament(US Mens Clay Court Championship) on PS3, the number 1 seed is on the same half as the number 4 seed but on Xbox, the number 1 seed is on the same half as the number 3 seed. :?

More to the point, I can potentially play Supermassy on Xbox for the 6th time this year before reaching the final, in the US Mens Clay Court Championship and I don't understand why.

1st meeting - Australian Open: Supermassy seeded 3 and ShoCase seeded 7
2nd meeting - Regions Morgan Keegan Championships: Supermassy seeded 3 and ShoCase seeded 1
3rd meeting - Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships: Supermassy seeded 5 and ShoCase seeded 1
4th meeting - BNP Paribas Open: Supermassy seeded 5 and ShoCase seeded 1
5th meeting - Sony Ericsson Open: Supermassy seeded 4 and ShoCase Seeded 1

The reason behind it might be simple but I would appreciate any explanation from a member of the management team.

Draws here at ITST are made by clicking on a button and then according to regular tennis draws a main draw is randomly (or pseudo-randomly) generated. Playing that frequently against the same player is just coincidence.

Take a look here, on page 26 and the following ones, for how a tennis draw by ITF Rules is made:

Yes that's really bad I can't play against you in Regular to definitely put an end to your domination :)

It is like VMoe said. Just from Supermassy's seedings you can see just how random it is. In theory this should give a lot of variation. Unfortunately this variation goes mostly unnoticed. A run where you get paired up with the same player a couple of times in a row will much more likely catch your eye.

See you in the Estoril final? You can definitely win your first ever title

Exactly, and I choosed this tournament because you were in :)

But as I unfortunately play the game 2 hours/month now, there are good chances I won't reach the final, as usual ;)

:( Well done on reaching the Semi Final, the last time you got that far in a regular MS tournament was in January when you were an outsider for the Australian Open Title. Good omen for the French Open perhaps

I admit, you're right ! But 3 things need to be known :

1) It's really difficult to play 2 different tennis games at the same time : when I play TE and come back to TS4 for ITST, I'm a bit lost (and frustrated by the lack of freedom in the movements).

2) I've really stop playing TS for 2-3 months now.. I just launch TS for ITST. Because of that, I've no sensations, especially on clay with the rebound etc (I've done more than 11 UE on 2 sets against SupremeLoren yesterday...). And my timing at the net is disturbed by the timing at the net on TE :/

3) I'm really not motivated to get back to a good level on TS as I have no more fun with the game. TE is so much better, you should come !

Conclusion : I will retire when the TE tour will be full.

I am going to make the transition.. I've played Tennis Elbow for the first time today, I like it and once I adapt to it I will join the tour and depending on the state of the Top Spin tour, retire from that too.
There are a couple issues with my experience of Tennis Elbow I need to resolve before I can get into it though.
