Rule Test Tournament 2012

In an attempt to further balance the tour, we have setup a Test Tournament with the following rules:

- Skills: Monster Defense and Smell of Blood are banned.
- You may have only one Grey colored stat
- All stats must be no less than 42

We will evaluate the results of this test upon completion. Please remember, this simply a test to determine the direction we may choose at a later time. Please use this thread to give us feedback on this and only this set of rules. Off topic posts will be deleted.

Smell of Blood is solely banned because of Welch? Kelly also has it. Why not banning Drop Shot Artist (would affect Bickham though)?

Playing around with the Calculator, it seems that there's no way to use Ercolani anymore under these rules and Kelly barely makes the cut but only with 18-1-1.

Slavina won't make it either, however there are many other defensive baseliners available and seems like all the best coaches will be a little toned down with these rules(especially all extreme builds 20-0-0, 0-20-0, 0-0-20), making room for the less powerful gold coaches in TS4. I have high hopes for these rules! Going to test out some coaches today from 5 pm CET. If anyone want to join me and test some builds, you're very welcome

just played 2 pratice matchs with rule test players against ary1 and tam and it was very nice.

lots of mixing in the tactics on both sides with baseline and net attacks etc, was a big lot of fun i enjoyed.

but it has to be tested on the long run, with the competitive attitude etc that changes the way ppl play theyr matchs.

btw i play as hard as i can so we can see how it really is, dont play too gentle guys so we can have an idea how it would work on ranked tournaments. (i dont mean cheesy ofc)

- edit : btw Djarvik after thinking about it i think those rules you found out have no weak point... sounds really good so congratz ! but we wont ever be 100% sure if ppl will find a new TI/MD OP out of the new available coaches :'(

Great, oversaw this thread. I like the idea I will compete this excludes alot of cheesy setups very very good idea can't believe I couldn't think of this

Edit: After some exploring, I did notice the no less then 42 rule exlcudes some setups who should be available.. I think this new rules would be great without this one... djarvik can you explain why you and the management also included the no less then 42 stats rule?

It excludes a realistic variation of Gallo and Babb. This coaches are not available anymore. With the only 1 grey colored stat you already exclude all extreme setups?

I see that it's still possible to create those coaches, great, but still my question remains because you seem to exclude all extreme setups without the no less then 42 stats rule and it excludes a few veriations of realistic setups.
