Only 80.000 Sales worldwide?

Postby o Sinna o » Thu, 19 Jan 2012 23:53

Is it true that TS4 sold so weak?

And what do you think means that for the future of the Series?

I mean the ca. 4 Million Dollars they made with the Sales are not to bad, but I don't know exactly how much money left below the Line to motivate 2K Sports for another and especially clearly better Part.

:lol:

Wrong ! 562K were sold during the 10 first weeks on both PS3&Xbox

-> 222 044 sold on Xbox (71k in USA ; 119K in Europe)
-> 340 771 sold on PS3 (100K in USA ; 168K in Europe)

To compare with other games :

Virtua Tennis 4 Xbox = 100k
Virtua Tennis 4 PS3 = 280k

TS3 = 530K (Xbox) + 510K (PS3).
TS2 = 160K (Xbox)
TS1 = 410K (Xbox)

Virtua Tennis 2009 = 320k (PS3) + 280k (xbox)
Virtua Tennis 3 = 990K (PS3) + 10K (Xbox)

Wow that means they made more Money than expected.

I mean TS4 was or is a impressing Game.

The only Problem I had with it, was that I couldn't control the Shot-Angles in the first Days like others and I couldn't explore the Roots of this Problem, because it made no Sense for me that a experienced Video Game Tennis Player like me, couldn't make those Shots while others had no Problem with them and made tham as it would be the easiest thing in the world. ^^

Because if I would have explored this Problem, I wouldn't have any Problems to compete with the best here when I think about the mind-Games those Top Spin Rallies have to offer on the highest Level you can play on.

I don't mean this arrogant you know, but I know what my mind or my Spirit can do on it's Limit in those Games compared with the best and it don't even have be only a Tennis Game.

The Result was a Hangover after two or three weaks after the Release and a Retirement because I felt fooled. :(

I am really thinking about to give the Game another Try after all these new Updates I have read here.

Because GST2 looks not bad you know, but I don't have big hopes that this Game will impress me with this second Part after playing the Demo. And especially don't impress me more than TS4 ever did in this short Time. But I have hopes for the Future of EA's Tennis.

Hm but I'll see.

I gave up to early.

But you know it's ten months after the Release now and wouldn't be a Problem to give it another serious try if I am willed to do so. *lol*

Need to look at retention factor

500k sales but less than 300 ppl online at any gvn time playing this hunk of junk.

Also the game saw mny ppl leave after so many updates
For my dowry all I wanted was an iPad but got a wife.

2K was expecting to cross a 1m sales. They didn't.

Sina, did you know TS3 sold better? :lol:

I think today, ANY game developer is aiming above 1 million sales.

No didn't knew that TS3 sold better.

But because of the 1Million Sales the Devs wish today.

I would grant them these Sales of course.

But if we say they get about 50 Dollars average for one Copy worldwide, 500K sold Copies with a 25 Million Dollars Profit are not to bad or? ^^

Ähm 500.000 Copies x 50 Dollars would be 25 Million Dollars.

I was just guess about the average Profit per Copy.

Here in Germany you get those Games sometimes even more expensive for 60 Euros or so.

Profit means "Gewinn" in german. I hope I called it right. ^^

That is gross sales man, not profit. There is a long way from one to the other.

Hm yeah I think I know what you mean and you are right.

Of Course the Development and the Promtion cost them a few bucks. ^^

Then gross sales.

But I think they'd made enough Money that the whole Business-Side is still profitable for them or am I wrong?

Of course every Business-Man wants the biggest Profit because every human is greedy in some way if he smells Cash. ^^

But I guess it was still profitable enough for them or what you think djarvik?

I think they lost money with this one.

Even if they made money on paper, I would still classify this as a loss. It is similar to something like this:

You take on a job thinking you will get paid 75,000 a year.....then a year passes by and you only make 35,000. Did you lose money? Will take on that job again?

Yeah, kinda rough example, but in essence, it works.

To be honest thou, with 25 mil gross sales, I am not even sure they make money after all the expenses. They had TV spots around the world, they had exhibition matches spots, development and licensing costs, manufacturing, distribution and delivery costs....the list goes on.

I highly doubt they made a profit on it. There is a lot more than development and promotion to consider. Even if they made a respectful 10% profit from 25 million thats only 2.5 million. An thats loose change in this industry.

Yep I understand you. Didn't thought about all they did and what cost them Money exactly enough.

But what means that for the Future if that's the Case?

Can we expect a Top Spin 5 or what you mean?^^
