What exactly was wrong with the last update?

Postby ILuvBillVal » Sat, 10 Dec 2011 01:11

Just out of curiosity I see so many people posting "the last update killed the game yadda yadda." I was away for a while when the update came out I think so I missed the initial launch. For me though before leaving I remember practically every point lasting 40 hits with some reaching 80-100 hits at times (no joke). Then I came back and all of a sudden myself and my opponent were both hitting winners MUCH quicker and there were even occasionally errors (while still too few) which I'd rarely ever seen before in the game.

I know that certain things still aren't quite properly addressed like the speed and stuff like that, but overall I felt like the game played much better than it used to when I bought it and pretty much thought it sucked for a while.

I think ppl complain because it made control shots better and easier to pass at the net. I don't see a problem with the update. TS4 will never be perfect, no game will. My big beef is that doubles is broke in multiplayer mode.

Yup, they have to hurry up and add a doubles update. I'd love it if they would be able to implement doubles from four different consoles.

And they have to fix the movement of the player in this game as well... One control shot from our opponent and we get wrong footed.. It is getting impossible to counter the control shot of our opponent with a power shot.. All this game is about Only control shots and nothing else

I've never played a tennis game where 80 shot rallies are something that happens more than once in a lifetime.

I've had multiple, numerous 80+ shot rallies with people in TS4. That ain't right.

F**k this game I gave it away a while ago....not balanced at all.

Your copy may have had it easy.

For the last week or so, I've strongly been considering taking my disc outside, and smashing it to pieces with a hammer.

What's ironic and sad is that we (ITST) had direct influence in turning TS4 from the fun game it was at shipment to the ABSOLUTELY UNADULTERATED PIECE OF DOGSHIT that it is now after 85 updates.

How about for TS5 we just let the game developers who do this stuff for a living decide how the game should be??

I'm not a guy who critizes for nothing. I didn't say anything against the game about previous updates.

So here's my point of view about the August-Septembre update (last one).

Before that : exchanges were fast, your player moved fast, the game was reactive, volleys were more efficient, lobs were hard to put in (especially after a long run, it was always fault), the angles were more realitisc, exchanges were funnier because longer.

Now : exchanges are slow, your player is less reactive, the game isn't as reactive as it was, volleys aren't efficient anymore, lobs are ALWAYS in whatever the position of the player is, the angles are as crazy as on the first version of the game (which wasn't really fun...) exchanges are ALWAYS the same (short cross).

Concretely, the game became slow and unreactive.

One day i don't know how, but my console got back to the previous version during a game against swifty. The difference was so SHOCKING and FUN pfiou, I could have played all the night.
I went to the world tour and made as many matchs as I can.

Day after i swith on the console and this was gone : i found back the real **** version...

 Sure, the 200 people at ITST will butcher ANY new game 2K release. You can count on it.

....just imagine the initial, fun game, with no outs or errors, perfected as it is now by our guys. Can you see 1000 shot rallies? :wee

Or how about TS5 being developed by people/firms who actually know and care about tennis, like PAM, Namco, or Camelot!

2K (which acquired and then dismantled PAM) obviously fails on both criteria.

Well... it finally happened - and TS4 is over for me.

It wasn't a hammer, but my hands. Just played my last match a few mins ago... was sick of the same nonsense* that happened as always, and decided enough was enough.

Calmly ejected the disc and bent it till I snapped it into 4 pieces. Ripped up the manual and box cover, and tossed the entire lot in the trash.

When a game annoys you FAR more than the few crumbs of fun its provides, its probably best to move on. In fact, I should probably have done so sooner. Someone contact me via the Matrix, when an enjoyable Tennis Game arrives!

I remember when I was warming up SIM players before the last update and having rallies with Tuurbine that would consistently reach 100 hits. Since the last update I've not had that problem. Occasionally there will be a long rally but nothing like it was at least in my experience. This could be just because I've improved I'm not sure but I could easily finish a 6 game set in 5-10 minutes now.
