Courtesy after matches in World Tour.

Postby Tuurbine » Mon, 16 May 2011 17:07

Well, usualyy after having a very tough match , fun or not, win or loose I send the other player a message through xbox live, like Good Game, well played, etc.... also I do it when I get my ass kicked by somebody else...

I absolutly never ever have received a message from anybody except for two players , which by coincidence are members of ITST.

I have even sent messages to players after having a 20 minute match in world tour quick match (nothing quick about 20 minutes) just imagine how tough the match was, and I send them congrats messages, when I lost... and they dont even reply back.

I just hate to see sore losers or cocky s.o.b´s ....

I usually send gg if it was indeed a good match. About half of the time people reply. Very rarely does someone send it of their own accord.

Agree with you 100%, if a match is very tight and you send a message at least the other party should reply. If they won and they reply, cool. If they won and they dont reply is just being simply cocky.

Maybe the other person doesn't speak English or whatever language you used?

Peope replying back is not a big deal to me.

you're right, last week i sent a "gg" message and the guy replied saying "??"
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

The same happened to me yesterday - it was with an Italian.
Usually I say the equivalent of 'gg' in their language, if I know it. Even so, I almost never get a reply from the French guys

It doesn't bother me, but this happens to me too. Sometimes I will get a response like "yup" or "thanks", but occasionally I get a "you too" or "gg" back. Then I will usually recommend they check out the ITST.

Turbine - I absolutely agree with you. I am from the school of manners and personally it does annoy me when I get no response after a match, taking into account the language issue.
The world tour I rarely play and I am less bothered by this - however in ITST matches (where dialog has been free flowing in pre match pm's) for your opponent to log off without saying anything is just plain rude.
They call me Baggy...

I don't think it's rude I guess I'm just a bad person

I think not saying anything is far better than 1) Saying something really rude after you lose, and 2) Not knowing how to STFU and leave the other guy alone when you just won: 'Great match I just beat your ass in, let's discuss the finer points of how I dismantled your entire strategy!'. Mmmkk NO THX!

I am saying this because I genuinely do not get offended if you don't respond to me after a match, I know how you feel when you just lost and it's perfectly normal to not want to talk to anybody for a few minutes....

You are right, did not think about it good one...

I will google "good game" in every single language....

English: Good Game
Spanish: Buen Juego
French: Bon Jeu
Italian: Buon Gioco
German: Gutes Spiel
Dutch: Goed Spel
Portuguese: Bom Jogo
Croatian: Dobra Igra
Japanese: 良いゲーム
Chinese: 好游戏 Note the different pronunciation in Japanese and Chinese :P
Klingon: QaQ Ta´Pu´

Yeah, but a "gg" or "wp" is sort of like a virtual handshake.

Recieving nothing but 'gg' or 'wp' feels snarkier and bitchier than recieving nothing at all. Seriously I'd much rather you say nothing at all if that's what you have to say after a match.

I see how this can be the case, sending a "wp" to someone who you just beat 6.0 6.0

But generally, I think 99% of players saying that after a close match are basically extending their hand at the net.

Hey Baghdad you are one of the two people I was talking about that actually wrote after a match.

In ITST matches (havent had more than six I guess) I havent had communication issues; but I agree with you, not talking and leaving is plain rude.

I know what you mean, but there are 2 things:

1st: I do not mean talking and discussing the match startegy or anything else, just pure and simple communication, like good game and thats it, been a good sport.

2nd: I agree with you, not to expect many replies after beating somebody and telling them good game. But its cockiness or rudeness if I lose a tough match, and I take my time to write to the guy that deafeated me telling him/her "amazing match" or "great game", or "well played" and not getting back a single answer from them.

I really enjoy tough matches, I almost always end up laughing while playing those matches, its like having a tough match of real tennis, 5 set tie breakers, ending the match and leaving without congratulating the other guy win or lose...

I am sorry if I sound to "anal" lol but really, I care about manners, maybe I am old school, but there are some things that should never change, even though they are played virtually online, I think one should behave online as you would behave in real life. Well , thats just me 8)
