After I played Coolhand last night, he told me that this game is more like VT than TS. Anybody agree? I thought it was an interesting statement.

Not at all. VT is pure arcade, TS4 is far from that sort of game (even though it`s not a perfect sim at all either).

Absolutely agree, the movement is very similiar as you can get so many balls back from impossible situations. Plus cross court angles and wrong footing are very effective like VT

Well, you could hit some insane angles on TS3 too. For example a short top spin cross with Nalbandian...

This is kind of what I thought about when he said it as well. And the lack of risk shots definitely makes the games more comparable... Obviously TS4 is a much deeper game, but it has definitely become more about hitting angles than about risk/variety.

I always remember in VT it was almost impossible to hit winners up the line unless the ball was short and you could be crushing the ball and the opponent just kept getting it back and hitting cross court. Like you say it's a lot deeper but feels closer to that than TS3 imo

i agree with you on risk but less so on variety the easy controls allows ppl to explore thedepth of the game easily that is what makes the game like vt the fact everoyne who invests a little time learning the controls can experience of the various aspects of gameplay that were in top spin 3 but not easily accessible for all players i hope ppl dnt think top sim is not sim because of simpler controls and more acessibilty i still feel is still a sim game and ppl saying theres a lack of unforced errors are not play on hard diffculty or upwards or plasying easy opps online cos when i play nadal on hard i make erros going for my shots

I might be totally wrong here as its been a while since i played TS1. But when i play with a power player this game kind of reminds me of TS1 regular. This game offers a bit more variation though cause a good use of the control shot can make all the difference.

And when i play with a balanced character vs a balanced character it reminds me of TS1 SIM.

I said back when everybody just had the demo, that it felt a lot like a mix of TS2 and VT3 as far as the movement goes

Yip it's Top Spin with all the bad bits of VT3, I think a lot of people will play it exactly like VT but better players will mix it up more. I guess this is what they were aiming for.

I'm one of the mixers... I hardly ever hit two identical shots in a row... plus the control shots add a nice twist.

It's not only a Question of good or bad Players. Even the ITST Mate VFB Fan plays the Game exactly like Virtua Tennis and avoids the Control Shots and he is damn good in that.

At the end of a Match nobody cares about how good you played the Game technical if you lost it you know.

Great Gamespot Score by the Way. Gamespot is one of hte biggest Review Gaming Platforms in the Net and is good for the commercial success of TS4. And success keeps the Series alive you know.
