Moralspain (Becker) vs Niten Doraku (Rafter)
6-4, 6-2

We played on grass, in Auckland, don't have the stats but as you can imagine it was a volley fest, super fun match. The key was that i was better at returning plus i won almost all the points played from the baseline.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Played My second match vs bauer007
He used Murray and I used Rafter.
I won and thought I played pretty well but My opponent thought I lagged the connection. I guess he is unfamiliar with the changes in the latest patch. Still not nice when people cant be nice when losing.

played my match vs eze 17. I was blake and he was nadal. It really wasnt much of a match. He just held down B the whole time and it was pretty much over. Lost 6-1, 6-0.

I still like playing with pros, especially if you get some really cool setups to play with not like blake vs nadal.

If there were to be a tour implemented I worry about the variety. Most people are here to win, and they are probably going to use one player. Not sure what that one play would be though. Of course, I would use blake in any tournament

Damn that's a little dissapointing somebody actually went with Nadal, he's way overpowered compared to the rest of the pros

I play with the pros nonstop and I'm telling you there isn't 'one player'.... I feel like they all have a chance of winning. Even Chang...actually I'm pretty damn good with Chang.

Nadal is basically in a tier by himself, that's why I call him overpowered. You still have to hit the right shots with him though, it's not a guaranteed win.

Blake is actually really good after the patch, you can hit awesome power shots with him. I think after the patch, having +80 power is more important if you wanna be a primarily power shot player.

Tonight I had my R16 match against swissmorgan, who was using Agassi (and me again Federer). I won 6-1, 6-0 and here are the stats:

100 - First Serve Percentage - 93
66 - First Serve Winning Percentage - 18
0 - Second Serve Winning Percentage - 0
0 - Aces - 0
0 - Double Faults - 0
40 - Winners - 14
4 - Unforced Erros - 5
6/8 - Break Points - 1/5
4/6 - Net Points Won - 1/4
51 - Total Points - 19

In another thread jayl0ve advised someone to practice timing of power shots and that's what I did tonight before my Top Spin 4 session - practice power shots. They worked well against swissmorgan and I very rarely hit them out tonight. Thus I had usually very short rallies (the other day I had a 95 shots rally against someone from Brazil  ).

swissmorgan was mainly hitting while pressing the R1 button and it looked funny seeing Agassi seemingly attacking the net and then backtracking. ;) Seriously: Does holding R1 help when running from side to side? I only tap it after hitting a shot or use it when I want to attack at the net. :?

Holding r1/rb does help you move from side to side quicker (at the cost of stamina), but if you hold it down too long you will end up doing what Vmoe's opponent did, the cheesy/lame 'Fake approach shot'.

I do it sometimes but on complete accident

Well, my tournament ended against kekkolab - a double bagel. :( I played as Federer and he as Agassi.

I think I played better than the result shows, but some players are so good that this isn't enough. I had a couple of game points and break points, but I couldn't convert them or rather he did not allow me to. I definitely have to improve my timing off drop shots because in general I got too early or too late when trying to put them away and he took advantage of it.

ARRRGHGHHHHHH where are you lukkysteff??!!

2 walkovers in a row?? I don't know if I even want to keep going in this tournament, this is a freaking joke!

This is not directed at lukkysteff but rather everybody here...don't sign up for tournaments if you have no intention of playing them! I was looking forward to this tournament and it's pretty much stuck in the mud, not going anywhere anytime soon

If the tour were pro players instead of customs, do you think you would use Gilles Simon competitively, or was it just for fun?

I played Dapery last night in this tournament - I was Sampras, he was Djokovic.

Well, anyone who thinks S&V is overpowered, try playing Dapery. It didn't take long before I knew I had no chance of winning - and it's not very often that I feel I really have no chance. It was so bad that in the second set, I all but gave up. I was utterly shell-shocked.

In all my service games (7, I think), he probably only allowed me to hit 5 volleys above the net. EVERY return was at my feet, and in a hard to reach place. He passed me on a consistent basis. On his service games, I think I never had a break point (which isn't too surprising given the match-up).

After the match, he told me I was the best S&V player he had faced. So if that's true, and considering he completely whooped my ass, I feel sorry for anyone else who tries to play S&V against him. His strategy was as close to perfection as I have ever seen.

Looking forward to a rematch with our custom players - I'm interested in how much of a difference the better serve will make, and how much Djokovic's return skills helped. Regardless, playing him is a great opportunity to learn and improve.
