Slice shots played in bad and medium situations are less powerful and less precise, making them real defensive shots and not offensive weapons.

Amen to that :D

"For a challenge system to exist, it would mean that the CPU would knowingly have to call good balls out, or out balls in to create a challenge scenario."

Since it already makes some really bad calls, I don't think this would be much of a stretch!!

haha, i know where you are coming from mate, some serve's i've had have been flush on the line (from my point of view) just to be called out. Its hard to explain, but a game can be coded to say "any part of the ball touches a line, it is IN", and "outside of that line, it is OUT". That's not possible in real life, as line judges and umpires are great but there is still a small degree of human error, and the challenge system eliminates that, if there is any doubts on behalf of the player who made the shot.

was just thinking this as my B.Cannon player is 10/10/0 > no defense points

i can see a massive shake-up on the WT, this is going to be sooo much fun, all the players with high set-up on power and bullying others off the court will need to make a new player and lose all the ranking/winnings points hehehe...

You have it backwards. The calls are absolutely correct (cause the programming says so). The corresponding animations, not so good.

Thats what i meant. As its programmed that way, it can never be wrong. If the ball is on the line, and the program is programmed to recognise that any part of the line the ball touches is "in", it can never be wrong by definition.

I don't think the new update will be a disaster. I think that the 2k staff has tested the situation and made it more balanced. I don't think they have nerfed a certain playstyle (except for dropshotting guys). So a good OB player will be good even after the update...

...And remember that they've improved shots in easy circumstances... so it's an important thing for OB because to hit good angles now your opp shots needs to be a minimum powerful, and sometimes an attack after a medium power shot is better than one after a very slow shot, cause in this situation you can't hit very strict angles and it's difficult to close the point. Also attacking DB when they serve slow due to their low serve and power will be more efficient.
So it will be a lot more balanced, don't think that DB will be the best choice after the update, cause every playstyle will be put on the same level and matches will be a lot more competitive.
In a few words: the DB will get a help in defense, but OB will be able to construct their points in a better and easier way.
ZPS will be very less efficient.
Drop shots will be more realistic.
It's a good update.

so they are taking away speed and stamina (rather increasing their low stats effect) from power players, and increasing baseline shots with 'good' timing... i got a feeling every player will become a high stat ground stroke and speed with zero power and just push the ball all over the place while power players fall over after 2 shots,

ugh, doesn't sound too good, but i guess we'll see, here's hopin for the best

Come on, you're being very un-dude
