You know a deep slice ball trough the middle has the same effect? Only easier to excecute.. I'm exactly using that tactic but than with deep, slice balls trough the middle. It's a well known tennis rule to in defend, return your balls trough the middle.

I will slice up the middle against someone who likes to play sharp angles, since it kind of takes that away from them. But against the really powerful guys, I think it's better to try to keep them pinned in a corner so their options are more limited (they almost have to play the ball back crosscourt)- then, once you get a chance, start making them move.

The more times i play power player the more i think reflex is exponentially better then speed. My current set-up has more reflex and less speed and strokes but he seems to handle their pace better. This is likely why all counter shot set-up grant stats in the reflex catagory. It's just a thought but maybe refex should not be neglected when creating a player.

Another thing you can do is hit a lot of drop shots -- it's usually hard for them to get to it because of their low speed, and they will make a lot of errors/leave a ball sitting up for you put away.

One of the opponent called me chessy when I use drop shots constantly.

Bt the way, how does the shot counter work? return with control shot, nornal shot or powerful shot? :P

But it seems that the speed is not so important in this game. The slow player can just run over the court, return any balls. That means they have no obvious weakness.

So anyone have some hints? My player is 18DB+2OB with the coach Welch.

I so understand what you are saying! The problem is: Because of the update it's VERY hard to play against a good power player..

In my opinion it is quite the opposite. After the patch it is much easier to handle the powerstroke players. Especially if you play a defense guy (like 18 DB+2 OB). Long and high Topspins to the baseline and the powerstroke is
1. very hard to execute powerfully
2. prone for unforced errors

A lot of people are giving mixed answers, here's what I do and it's the easiest and most offensive solution:

Short slices take away their ability to power flat. Use short slice to bring the opponent within the baseline.

Once the opponent is within the baseline, topspin deep right at him.

The game is now in your control and do whatever you need to do to win it.
