after the patch control shots work better, people who hold to hit power shots make many more mistakes than other just using power shots (myself).
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

You have to use both. If you hit only control shots you're in for a real long day.

Neither is 'more effective', they both just have their times when they should be used.

Move your opponent out of position with control shots. Finish with power shots. Learn to pick the right shot at the right time. That is what seperates a normal player from a good player.

There is no choice here. You gotta use it all. Short, deep, control shot, normal shot, power shot, etc, etc.

Control shots are awesome, cause you can use them even if opp's attacks are very strong.
They're also good when you wanna do a fast wrong foot attack (while the power shots require more time for the esecution and the player in lots of cases tries to go too behind the ball.
Finally, they're awesome approach shots (wrong foot or not), with very well angles and they aren't godly fast, so you can approach very close to the net (of course covering the angle where the ball is) and close with a comfortable volley.

Thing is, when I use controlshots, i cant take the ball on the rise, which is wierd....(shouldnt control shots take balls on the rise easier than power shots?) and i make more mistakes. Also, if i ever get too soon or too late with a control shot, its complete crap, but with apower shot its ok.

after a bad power shot, the opp can just close the point, while after a bad control shot, you can try to guess the direction of the opp's shot or you just have more time to reposition yourself.
However, the timing is relative, cause after long practise you can hit almost every ball with good or perfect timing

With my power player, power at 84 and 80/70 strokes, I'm mostly doing power shots. I use control shots on the defense, like a deep topsin shot. I also love to hit the angled control shot to wrong foot my opponent or for a winner, if I get away with it. But majority of my winners are power shots.

My other player has 80 power but 75 and 70 for strokes and shot counter so I'm mostly using control shots/counter and go for the winner with power.

I use them to the type of player I'm player with and who I'm playing against. It's perfect to use them both. They have their advantages.
Seems I can't cross that threshold just yet :(

By the way, flat control shots with a "good" timing are really really crappy...
