What happened?

Postby DennieFR1908 » Fri, 10 Jun 2011 17:16

You know.. untill recently I was very happy with the new Update.. But when I yesterday played a character with a lot of power for the first time, all those good feelings went away. What the *** happened?! They can finish balls soooo easy this will turn around the entire game.. all players should play with ppl with high power cuz they have a huge advantage now. The speed isn't a big deal cuz you can still get to everything.... TI/MD was nothing compared to this.. Nice job 2K.

:D Funny. There are few discussions going on now on how it is impossible to finish points and play power tennis, basically complete opposite of what you say.

Yes, that's with players with low power, I'm talking about the opposite.

true...now you really have to juice up your character's power to get a winner. even with that, it's still tough. I played against a player on WT with 98 power and 98 serve, he still having trouble hitting winners against me. i lost the match in tiebreak cuz he was acing with his serve left and right...lol. Most of my match now are just getting the ball back and hoping my opponent will hit an error...eventhough i am hitting to the open court i am not expecting a winner.

Rallies and matches is gonna be super long now...which is not to my taste.

I give credit to 2k sport for trying to please the people who were complaining by making the updates. plus the game change so much now compare to what it was that they should have implement these changes in TS5.

anyway...a game is a game, i am still gonna play it and adjust to the changes. like it or not, hopefully everyone can make adjustment and continue to have fun with it.

Becouse you can't finish off points with low power, and so easily with high power. That's the difference I talk about that makes it a huge advantage to play with a character with high power.. it's disballanced. (@djarvik)

Well, this is good. Power hitters are "hit or miss" players. And low powered players rely on opponent making an error, by moving ball around and using the depth of the court. So if asything, I think this is very ballanced now.

Who really is going to suffer are the the all-around players that refuse to come to net or create a one good stroke.

Medium power players that refuse to invest into one stroke as their weapon will strugle as well.

No... I'm saying it's to hard to make winner with low power and to easy with high power...

But dude, this is good. This is how it is. How many winners with low power guy you get in a 3 set match?

Let me give you an excample.

Since I played this game almost never lost even a match.
When I yesterday played someone with not even a win on ITST I had a really hard time with him because he had hight power and could finish balls VERRY easy.

After it I played the number 1 of ITST and beated him but didn't had as much struggle as the guy with no victories yet with high power..

I have to make really good corners to get a winner and they just have to hit one nice flat shot and it's over.. verry anoying, and it wasn't like that before the update.

Like I said I'm verry happy with the update but discoverd a big weakness here because it's not like they're "hit or miss" players who make a lot of erros..

Yes but I mean it should be ballanced right?? not that the playe rwith high power has the upper hand only because of that.. I'm a tennisser my selve all I saying is it is not realistic. Besides my power isn't that low it's about 65

I play with low power as well. And the easiest matches for me are against power players. I am usually able to move them all around the court. I don't know your player setup, but if you let me know I may be able to tell you why you strugled.

I played with Tigerofintegrity as well. I won 6-0. Granted, he didnt use a high power player, I didnt either. I then played Patko, beat him 6.0 6.1 and he used a high power guy. Then I played a guy (forgot the name) that had an ITST record of 1-3 at the time and used a super fast player. I lost in tight three sets. I was able to move him all around the court, but, I had no power to "close" out the points. Yet still, I lost 6.1 6.7 6.4 He basically hang around long enough for my stamina to take a dip and then "pushed" his way to the victory.

It is all about matchups I think. What setup you used and what setup your opponent used?

Yes, you beat me lol, was toally suprised about your game I really where shocked all the match lol. But before the patch I didn't lost a match after the patch and win now against players where I in the past always be beated. Maybe it's the patch maybe not.

I agree with this. The coach that Dennie uses, Drew Welch, is susceptible to power play. I've used him myself too and you do tend to struggle more against the good power players but it is very effective against more control style players. I mean, I do like the update overall now that I've played more with it since it does make matchups matter more. There's much less of that 'jack of all trades player who can destroy any player type' now. It's more like real life tennis where there are some people's styles that you will struggle against more than others.

And Djarvik, you only beat me 6-0 because I was still dying from jetlag at the time. I played Zooloo straight after you and lost like 6-1, 6-1 or something like that. Need to rematch you sometime to restore my own pride. :P

if you volley, someone who plays with high power is pretty fun, cuz the volley comes back soooo fast, its funny. but the thig is, you have like no chance to get to their passing shotss.....
