Really long and in depth. Hopefully all the style changes really work into gameplay and all the styles are equally usable...

Thoughts?

Murray's forehand and backhand stats need to be switched. Sampras' serve and volley stats too. And also, i would argue sampras is more of a true all-court player than roger federer.

Some of the stats shown in the dev diary seem a bit off, but if thats the price we pay for a balanced gameplay I'm all for it. :D

Can't wait for this game now. Maybe we'll get some love from 2k on valentines day with the demo?!?

Yeah, I had a problem with a lot of the stats. It's obvious that they are trying to make the players more or less even. We can analyze the stats all we want, but for Fed:

TS4

Forehand 93
Backhand 63
Serve 60
Volley 64
Power 79
Stamina 74
Speed 65
Reflexes 62

Real Life (What I'd give him, judging each category on the competition)

Forehand 93 good
Backhand 63 good-ish, probably closer to 70
Serve 60 > 85 (assuming that this is serve accuracy, not power)
Volley 64 > 77
Power 79 > 83
Stamina 74 > 88
Speed 65 > 85
Reflexes 62 > 75

But obviously a setup like this would be stacked. Unfortunately for the Fed, in games he can't be as good as he truly is, as he and Rafa would be the only "go to" players in the game.

And I think Murray's speed should definitely be in the 80s or 90s.

They mentioned "later diaries" 2 or 3 times, so I assume that unfortunately they're just going to keep doing these for awhile and keep us waiting. :?

Does this remind you of our SIM tour?

We had an idea initially, to assign Pro Names to all all SIM roster. But we decided against for the very reason that is being discussed by you guys now. Everyone would have his own opinion on what stats of a certain pro should be.

But you have to remember, everything is relative. You cannot say Federer should have a 75 BH when you have a rival player with a BH as weapon set at say 80.

The roster needs to be balanced between each player an that roster first, stats relative to other players. Then be true to life.

Right now - this looks like GOLD!

Yeah, stats aside I am really excited about the defensive baseliner play strategy. Hopefully they are true to their word and people can actually outmaneuver power players and win matches against them.

Just wanted to point out here, precision in serving does not depend on the stat. You can hit the lines with 50 serve in TS3. Problem is that "timing window" gets smaller with less stats...but precision is exactly the same.

I would reduce the power on Federer rather then increase it. Fed is a risk player......so most power comes from risk....but, no more risk in TS4 sooo ....you maybe right.

Speed? No way. Fed is fast, but he is not that fast. He looks and plays fast, because of control oriented game and court positioning...all the things that a player navigating his character should be doing. With 85 speed - he becomes too fast and defensive......players using him will have an option to play 10 feet behind the baseline and get away with it, thus totally destroying that ACTUAL style that Federer represents. The stats should force you to play the style. All in all, I think Federer was done well.

Good point Djarvik. The most important thing for me is that the stats really do reflect what the player can/cannot do

553 total. You missing 7 more points.

I am glad 2K took a Page(s) from our SIM tour and made all characters now cap out at 70. It will make it possible to use Pros along side created players in our tour.

We put in a lot of work in our SIM tour and it shows. I am so proud, I am going to cry now.    8) 8)
