I just don't think there are enough sign-ups to be able to split the tour between bigger tournaments and challenger events, but it would be nice to see if it brought new players in and helped retain a few more.
All these calls of rule changes and handicaps for top players seems a bit over the top, it's like the Aus Open officials giving Fed's early opponents a set head start or stopping him playing certain shots, at some point you have to just get on with it and admit that some players are always going to be better than others, not everyone can be a top 10 player. I know its frustrating to lose more often than win but I had that when I first started here and just kept playing the best players till I started improving to the point where I was almost on an even keel, its the only way to get better, not by playing lesser players just to get a confidence boost.
I also think that although the drop out from the tour of Shocase and Fifa is similar to having Nadal and Djoko not in major tournaments, this should really be celebrated by every other player in the draw now. We have the exciting prospect of unpredictable match-ups and tournament results where realistically several players could win a trophy at any one time, which I think should revive interest and is a million times more interesting than last season.
The death knell for Top Spin 4 is premature in that sense, I really wish people would stop dismissing it as aside from Fifa and Shocase there are a lot of players who've returned, I thought it was going to be a lot worse than it is. I for one am really looking forward to this season more than any other, I won't be playing Tennis Elbow whatsoever, I'm sure its great for people who can put in the time to improve but the fact remains that its nowhere near as accessible as Top Spin 4.
