How to keep the focus in games

Postby Marco_Theo_81 » Wed, 18 Apr 2012 14:38

Hello

First, I hope everyone understand my english and also that maybe I can recive some answers oder suggestions. Thx in advance for that.

Ok, I am an average player, told to myself, at my 700th win in the world tour, to stopp playing the WT and enjoy ITST. Thx to Ali, he told me about ITST.

700 win and 101 losses, but exactly 57 times because of the connection or that I couldn't find an opponent and so I had to disconnect the psn from the net. And most of the times lost vs. 98/98 / 91/100 power players, with this overpowered combo very hard to play. And then many players with this innatural tennis style, tramlines or abuse dropballs. But okay, they just wanna win. And also to meet this incredible player Losc12.... was everytime superhard.

I like just tennis and of course I am big fan of our hero here ins Switzerland Roger. I play table tennis, was also in clubs in younger years. Now just for fun. In my mobile phone I have many tennis and tabletennis games. My wife sometimes said to me, I should delete tehm all, play to much... haha

So, sorry for that long intro.
My problem is, that I can't hold the focus in longer games. How can you be so concentrate the whole time? Saw matches on youtube played by Showcase, 100 hits with 99x perfect timing... impressive!!

Maybe some ITST member can give not just me, but also other members some suggestions?

Thx also to Liviolini, he teaches me a lot with very usefull tips.
And Dennie, one time I will win a games vs. you. That's a promise. =o)

Greetings from the beautiful Lucerne here in Switzerland.

I suggest lots of drugs but in failing that send the wife away any distraction I feel does'nt help.

You either have patience or you don't. Drink coffee. Eat energy. Chocolate gives you a little boost.

In this game u have to be more calm, and wait some seconds between points. Just after each points take some seconds to think. I lose my concentration in my match with firderis, i was 5-4 0-30, in the second set (6-4), and i lost 5 games in a row till 3-0, then i lost the third 6-3.

I was not thinking in that moment, just playing. U have to think about your shots.

yes, like the pros in real tennis. Always be concentrated and focussed. Keeping the necessary calm in every situation, that's what makes the difference between average players and the great players.

Good example in your match against the great Firderis. Thinking and playing in a balanced relation.

John, see you for a friendly.

ciao

Oh ein Eidgenosse! Yes, Swiss chocolate is the best in the world!

When I play WT or 2K in every close match my UE's are higher than my opponents', I often lose patience during long rallies which results in badly timed swings. In a recent match I had was leading by 15-5 UE's and the 3rd set super tie break was unnecessarily close at 10-8 (took me 5 overall match points but also defended 2).

Ciao Corbon

Nicht ganz, meine Eltern sind Italiener, aber ich bin in der Schweiz geboren. Also ein Secondo.
Sprichst du deutsch? An der Uni gelernt?

Swiss chocolate is famous in the whole world, yesss! 8)

Exactly, that's often what happens to me too, losing patience during long rallies. Here it depends, if at the end you will be the winner or the loser.

Maybe we can play sometime and improve our patience at the same time.
Win-Win situation.

As JohnCurveo said you need to think about your strategy the whole game. When you play against good opp. and do the same shots over and over again your opp will adapt to your playing style and you gonna lose the game.

The important point is still practice. Guys like showcase dont think about the timing when they hit the ball with perfect timing so they can focus more on the strategy.

About games against power players: Use speed >75, good FH/BH ~80 and control shots. Thats the best way to play and win against those guys. Of cource you can also pick a player with >90 power but this is not tennis and makes no fun...it reminds me of a penalty shootout.

But without practice it will be hard to master all these things...

gruß ;)
