alright, i am a self confessed tennis geek as well. and i remember a very annoying group of players when i was young that were referred to as pushers. they would simply run everything down and push the ball back deep and annoy the ever lovin sh!t out of everyone. and now to my dismay, it seems as tho topspin 4 has included this player type in its gameplay.
i have played a few people tonight with like 85-95 forehand + 85 backhand, 100 + speed, and reach swings expert + drop shot artist.
so the basic gameplay from them seems to be to just keep pushing each and every shot back as deep and as angled as possible, i hit a tremendous amount of shots in the air within a foot of the baseline, and then just wait out an error from the opponent trying to overhit or finding an easy opening for a put away.
my question is, how do you counter this, i split 4 or so matches with these type setups tonight, and i just had no idea how to counter the depth and slowness of most of the shots, by the time i hit the ball, they were right in the center of the court for perfect hitting position. i tried topspin deep with power, control topspin shot deep, shot angled. i tried heavy power shots down the line, cross court, control shots cross court and down the line, and nothing really penetrated. for the most part, they were able to run down everything and some had characters who just completely teleported from one place on the court to another when it looked like they was NO WAY they could run a ball down. just lookin for some more strategies. i guess the only thing i didn't really try was mixing in some short slice shots. thanks again everyone.
btw, i play with shot counter + semi-volley king. 88 power, 85 forehand, 65 backhand, 59 serve.
