Yeah I don't think anybody would really like that....it's not THAT hard to hit a good shot in real life

I said this in another thread but I think if they gave this game the control scheme from TS2, where you can always hit the ball out on any shot by aiming for too long. The ONLY thing missing from that game's controls was the press-release function we have now in TS4....add the ability to hit any ball out by simply aiming too long in one direciton, and the game would be literally perfect, TO ME.

I feel that if the idea of risk was put in the format given by TS4 then the game would be perfect. I think it would be easy. All they'd have to do is make the timing more important on every shot. Poorly timed shots would go in 15-20 percent of the time. Shots that are "Too Soon" would go in 40-50 percent of the time (depending on the difficulty of the shot). Shots that are "good" go in 85% of the time. Shots that are "Excellent" go in 95% of the time. This is just a very preliminary idea, but i think its far more effective than having a Risk button.

That is an incredibly bad idea. Count the percentage of shots you hit in a match that fall under each category. For the average player it would basically translate into about 40-50% of their shots going out. Really? You want 1 out of every 2 shots you hit to go out? :?

ok so my percentages were off. all im saying is that every shot in real tennis has risk in it. a shot that is very poorly timed should not go in 95% of the time. and maybe my percentages for too soon were off. but something like 75% would be better

Problem is, I don't want to observe the game, I want to participate. I want to decide when to go for my shots and when not to go. I dont want to depend on percentages.

I want to be able to try and go down the line on flat full power.

I should be able to make a decision on the fly, to go for the riskier shot or not.

Basically, I want as much control at my fingertips as I can get. TS3 had more control and hence more depth, with a much stiffer learning curve. TS4 has less control and easier learning curve....but that translates into less options, less depth. Coaches try to make up for that....and they are hellava fun, but there is no making up for "control". Lack of it that is.

What's messed up is that power and control shots are supposed to be the risk shots. One sure sign that they failed in that..... when is the last time you hit a "normal" shot?

that makes sense. but Jay makes a good point with the control system they had in TS2. The game would be pretty perfect with that. It was also be cool if u could only stick serve on the first serve, but maybe that's just me

Agree. But I also agree that maybe they should have had the "too soon " or too late shots having going out more often.
That they could fix with a simple patch????

the depth is there it just that it easy to access it without a real skill involved, that was all was the problem will ts3 the depth was there it was just difficult to access it without major skill. what we wanted was easier access to the depth which is what we got, but the problem is that it's too easy to get the depth in the game the slice short angles e.t.c .what we want in ts4 is for the short angled shots and hitting a good slice to require skill , and investment that will deter gamers simple looking for flaws to exploit seeking to win at any cost. if people wanna go top heavy in any setup there should be drawbacks for all setups that can easliy be exploited as we saw today schiavone beat bartoli a hard hitter because of her movement and fran exposed it well and should be the same case in the game.

Seriously Guys, I would love to see the ultimate Simulation on the Market. Personally I think that Risk is a important Part of Tennis. Even if I didn't play TS2 or TS3 to the fullest I played the Parts enough to get a good Impression from it. But if we talk about risky shots then I think it's absolutely normal that a Player lays all his Power in one Stroke to finish the Point even if he hits it out.

You know what the good Thing is? The best Simulations are still in front of us. I would love to see completely new Development Teams which bring Videogametennis on a whole new Level. TS4 is not bad and I was very excited before the Release and in the first Days playing it, but yesterday I tried to play it just for a short Moment against the CPU again just to look how I feel about the Game now when playing it and it was absolutely boring.

The Try took all my Joy away to play and try it again.
You know it's good that the Top Spin Series is alive and still present, but I believe it gets first very interesting again in the next Generation with new Engines.

You know I look for something special. I had my greatest TS Time with Top Spin 1. This Part was simple and good but you can call it a old time that's just gone and you have to accept it. No need to cry about it. But what I try to say is that no other TS Part after TS1 made it to keep me in front of the console like TS1 did. I really don't know if it was just the Game itself that was so damn good or my Motivation that I had in this Time to play such a Videotennisgame, but it was great. I think it was a Combination of both.

TS4 is not my Game, but I know there will come a Simulation one Day again with that I'll have fun like in the good old Days. I hope for it. A Simulation which really understands to surprise and keep me in front of the Console for a whole Generation.

TS4 has many strong Points but it's not the Game I was searching for.

The next Thing I absolutely Dislike in TS4 is the Problem with the Angles, but this in not only the Mainproblem because I have no Joy with it. But I find it ridiculous that I can't produce them like other Players. Normaly it should be a totally simple thing. I am not talking about a manipulated Version to start the schizophrenic Stuff again, but it's just weird. I am a Player who always understood it to learn things in a Videogame. Ok let's say almost, one thing I can remember in the Past that I couldn't handle was the Strafejump in Quake 3 Arena and Quake Live. But every Time a Game motivated me I understood it with alot of training to get good at it.
Probably it would be the same with TS4 or it's just a big Joke or bullshit. Who knows.

You know even with TS1 it wasn't so that I owned every mofugger from Day 1 but the Game motivated me and that's what I miss with TS4. In TS1 I still learned new things after 1 1/2 Years while playing Guys like Vincanety. Maybe it's a matter of Taste but TS1 was unique.
