Movement

Postby edlglide » Sun, 22 May 2011 22:00

Anyone else still having problems with movement? Seems like it's better after the patch, but I still have matches where I have to just guess where my opponent is going to hit it because my player is delayed by at least a second every time I move him.

In other words, if I move him back to the center of the court to wait for the next shot, and then try to move him right or left, he will stand still for a second or two before moving again -- which means basically every shot will be a winner because the ball is already past once he gets going again. And my guy has 72 speed, so it's not the speed rating. He only has 51 reflexes, so I thought maybe that would be why...but my female player has 83 reflexes and she has the same problem.

It's really frustrating when you just have to pick a side of the court and hope your opponent hits it there; makes me feel like I'm playing checkers or something instead of tennis.

I'm having the same problem mate, it's my biggest gripe about the game, the movement mechanisms are terrible

I think movement is key in the game. Try not to stand still when you don;t know here the ball will go to.
I see many people wait at centain points when they are defending . Won't help yah. And don't jerk the analogue stick so your player will move very fast and will do a sprint when there is no need for it.

True dat.

I've found it's best to wiggle the joystick back and forth in those moments, kind of like 'split stepping' in real life.

It sounds funny but it really works, because like everybody I too have noticed this 'glitch'...although it's not really a glitch at all I'll just call it that

Honestly you hardly have to use your joystick for movement at all in this game

If you are anywhere NEAR the ball, the game like...automatically sends your guy there if you press the left stick in the direction of the ball. Especially on power shots, your guy basically moves like a magnet to the ball if he's anywhere near it when you press the shot button.

Since it's not being used for anything else, LB should have been "reposition slowly", for when you just need to make small adjustments.

If you hesitate on the left analog at any point when moving towards the ball, there's a good chance that your shot will be affected.

Yeah, most likely.

I've found that you can actually change your mind at the last second as to where you want to hit the ball and still get great placement if you 'perfect' it.
