Favorite thing about playing online?

Postby dahltennis » Fri, 25 Mar 2011 05:14

For me it's easy: the ability to wrong foot opponents :) It's something I always try to do against the computer but only works occasionly (though still miles ahead of ts3) Anyway I just wanted to rave about how much I enjoy online matches and the thing I didn't feel so much in ts3 - the insane mental game involved. I almost felt in ts3 even if you guessed the right way, you'd still lose the point 80% of the time anyway... but in ts4 it's so thrilling when you win a point because you felt you actually out thought the opponent, and hit it back to that one corner just one more time than they thought you would. Also even on the serve I actually have to think out whether I want to belt one down the T or slice them out-wide, because it can make such a huge difference. Overall, I just absolutely love the aspect of having to anticipate how the opponent will anticipate your shot. :D This is easily the best game I've ever played, tennis or otherwise.

p.s. Also I'll likely be playing tomorrow night around 16:30-19:00 ish (GMT-6) if anyone wants to arrange a match, I'd love to, just add me - dahltennis - and send a message. I'll be playing as Petra Kvitova (who I did a pretty good job making in my opinion, but you be the judge)

Completely agree. They really did get the gameplay down better. Certainly something they can build off in the future.

Don't know how often I used this Word now. They didn't just make a good Game. This Game is a Master-Piece when it comes to Tennisgames and the best Development in Tennisgamehisytory ever in my Opinion. Absolutely professional with a huge Brain-Effort. :lol:

Maybe I am alone here but I still think I prefer TS3 to TS4. TS4 is growing on me though the more I play it for sure.
IMO, the rallies are more unrealistic in TS4 with the lack of unforced errors and the more "arcade-like" feel to the game. My biggest gripe though is that the flat shot doesn't work like it should. If you have an easy short ball that is begging to be put away, it should not require time to power up in order to do so. It often ends up mistimed so your opponent either has time to run over and hit a passing shot winner or the rally just starts all over again. The games does a bad job with this.

The game is good, but far from a masterpiece. Just look at World Tour mode. 90% of the people winning consistently are using a Roddick clone when in real life Roddick can't touch Nadal. However, in TS4, you put two evenly skilled players matched up as Roddick and Nadal, Roddick wins 9/10.

The power attribute is far overpowered compared to the speed and stamina atrributes. It really needs to be fixed or the online community is going to be power vs. power with no variety in the competitive scene, aside from the S&V players, which there are few good enough to beat a skilled Roddick.

@k needs to balance this.

Agree with you Mack, just can't fully take to TS4 like I did with TS3, I just find some of the extended rallies like Virtua Tennis and are frustrating rather than enjoyable, I've hardly even been online with it.

Yeah i kind of agree. You have to take the inititive to shorten rallies, however you can just get passed or lobbed easily if its even slightly wrong.

But god damn fed's FH is a absolute collosus. Its got me out of trouble so many times.

My favorite part of online is beating people that use stacked characters with my fair character. No better feeling than beating a guy that has 126 in his serve. Or 98 in power.

If agree with most about the power issue but the the power gamer can be stop last night i beat a guy with my all rounder / sv player with 45 in power but i had 70+ in speed and reflex if you mix up the play get them moving its harder for them to beat to be honest the worst type of player to play against is a ployer player with speed anf great reflexes like nole cos trust if you can have say 60 in pw and 70 in speed and reflex you can beat them beacause you can react faster change directions faster too
