yeah when i played the ps3 demo, i hated it and thought it was terrible because you play with an untrained character who seems to moonball everything. once you train your character this is not the case, rallies are much better and more powerful. im glad i gave the game a second chance. i have to say that the xbox version is much better graphically for some reason too, much sharper.
what i like the most is the fact that rallies are now more tactical. you cannot simply chase everything down as in previous VT games because movement is much slower and volleying is harder. You cannot get every ball ball in play. The supershot is a great addition too, and really adds to excitement of a match.

however the best thing about Vt4 for me is the player animations on hitting shots. They jump in the air as they hit the ball, EXACTLY like the pros, and it really feels like you are winding up power to unleash a shot. Its great, particularly on the inside out forehand.

Get the game, you will not be disappointed if you give it a chance. :D

Are u comparing the PS3 demo with the full game for the Xbox? Or full versions of each console ...

i have both games for ps3 and xbox. I am stupid. i bought the ps3 one first and its not bad for the Move controls, but I was fed up on PSN being down so i bought the Xbox version to play online and i was shoocked at how much better it looked...just clearer , less blurry.

Heres a vid of online play:-

My review is pretty much the same as Andy. The only complaint I have about the rally system is the slices. You simply cannot defend by using slices since the ball is even higher than a lob and destined for being smashed...I know my position is not the best but when I am defending I don't think I'm supposed to be in the best position right? Or else I should just hit a winner!

And, there's no ranked doubles (have unranked), and no spectator mode. Probably because it's AM3 who make the online component rather than Sumo. There's still a room for 8 players max and you can wait.

The supershot is a great, great addition. Imagine you are 30-30 and you got a super shot, should you use that now or the next? Would your opponent able to charge up 1 super shot also? There're lots of strategy I have seen in online matches and it's rlly fun.

Btw, anyone figure out how to hit a running shot? It's as powerful as a supershot but I dunno how to do that.

:x meh, who am I kidding? I'll be buying it.

Can anybody tell me if it has four console doubles (and ranked doubles), like VT3 had? Also, is the online lag handled okay? If these two things are good, and the gameplay is good, I'm in for sure.

For me, VT3 without the let bug would have been an almost perfect game.

I agree with that. VT4 is not as perfect as VT3, but is still a great game. VT3 is just too good.

The movement in this game looks horrible though. Especially the sudden 180 turnarounds. It's like the animation for the turning is missing and they just instantly end up facing the other way.

And the ugly yellow trail behind the ball. I've always hated that and I see they haven't decided to change that either. Don't think VT will ever be my kind of game other than if I wanted to kill 10 minutes at an arcade... :?
