Top Spin 3 Rule Change - Character Attributes

Postby Al » Fri, 15 Aug 2008 00:09

Having taken everyones comments into account and after careful consideration weʼve decided to implement a rule change for the Top Spin 3 Tours on Xbox 360 & PS3 as follows;

Starting at the U.S. Open, the ITST will implement a 40/90 Minimum/Maximum Attributes Cap.

This basically means that all members playing on the Xbox 360 & PS3 Top Spin 3 tours must limit their created characters attributes to a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 90. You are free to use any setup you like, so long as all attributes fall within this range.

The new rule is to be used from the US Open going forward. This will allow everyone sufficient time to build their new characters and test them out. If you need to create a new character to conform to these rules, there is a shortcut which allows you to do so in only a few minutes. You can find instructions to this shortcut on the following forum page: http://www.intertopspintour.net/forum/v ... php?t=9095. If you need any assistance following these instructions, feel free to contact Al, SlicerITST, Cro Morgan, Rob ITST, or ask one of our members on the forum.

As with all rule changes the ITST Management will continue to monitor all comments and feedback so that we can adapt our tour accordingly. At this time we feel this rule will create a more realistic playing experience, while at the same time allowing for a variety of playing styles.

I think there should be no limits as such on stats but maybe setup rule, as to many people are using unrealistic setups, (including me, but i use it to counter other 100 people, but if people used proper setups, specific properties, eg federer has great forehand, murray is fast, nadal has great stamina, nalbandian has great backhand, but on this tour most people are like playing myself, i think the 90-40 is probably stupid in a sense that even most of the in-game pros cant even play on this tour. I am a 100 player and im not proud, but if you come up against another 100 dude its the only way to survive, unless the player has real skill at the game, (eg Snowflake, RobITST, Retos11, and Picachu211 come to mind)

Actually, most of the pros fall into this range, even the ones who are over level 70. Only three pros have more than 91 on a skill, none have less than 40.

At least with this rule, a pro would have a chance against a custom player. That makes sense to me.

Here's another way to look at it: Without a rule like this, you are actually more limited in how you create your character. To compete with the 100/fh/bh/power... players, you pretty much have to use a similar character. This will make skill much more of a factor.

You'll still have your power players (90 will be the new 100) however they won't be overpowered (i.e. can be taken down with a more balanced character).

I have played quite a few 40/90 matches and they are very tennis-like, with just a touch of arcade. Basically, pretty damn fun.

...i was never a fan of power tennis anyway since first top spin...so hopefully this will make it more challenging to everyone.

This will encourage some patience and thinking.
My first and original character for ts3 may have a chance now.

wish us luck!

THANK YOU GUYS.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

I played many matches with this setup. There is almost no difference between 100 and 90 just that all styles have more chance to shine then when players use the 100 stats, and you actually have to play smarter  :D
I think it's a huge improvement ,thanks for that.

What is the difference than between 30-100, 40-90 than come on people. I see no difference, mosrt people have 30 stamina and 100 speed, and now it will be 40 stamina and 90 speed, I can't see no difference. But the idea makes it more realistic now. The problem is that there are people they don't listen to this idea. So that makes problems when playing matches.

rule change

Postby amazingjumpoff » Fri, 15 Aug 2008 14:21

i don't like the new rule change its giving an unfair advantage to people with no skill why should i have to scarfice my 100 power so a no-talent wanna be can compete with me. i dont volley and im a baseline player so i need all the power thats avaiable to me so when i come up against a volleyer which is rare but there out there i can it a pasing shot with everything i got and if he does make the volley i have a second chance to put it away or i come up against another good baseliner. u cant be a baseliner with no power now can u?

a baseliner with no power of their own is called a counter puncher and that i'm not. The running mecanics in TS3 seems to give me a lot of trouble although i have 90something on speed so whos @ the disadvantage now.

i work with my weakness so why cant everyone else

sometime to win a match another tactic besides skill, timming, court coverage, shot selection and anything else u can think of to win a match besides cheesing is overpowering your opponet eg. rafa nadal.
instead of making the rule change to 40/90 maybe u should have made it to where u can have only one stat with 100 and 1 stat with 30 know thats fair instead of penalizing the power players.

have u seen a real tennis match lately, over even the last couple of years if u did u would know that power is very much apart of todays game.
we don't use wooden rackets anymore and all the guys and gals are hitting the gym.[/b]
so inconclusion a tour should not restrict there players to play a certain way or have a certain style of play do u see the atp or wta tour putting restrictions on racket companies although i feel it gives the weaker player an unfair advantage and the player with skill has to work twice as hard because of a racket which gives the inferior player more power, precision, and a bigger sweet spot which means more room for error. which means "they have a chance" please, grow some muscles and dig deep.
dont hate particpate
