What the hell does it take?!?!?

Postby willjonesjrSUSPENDED » Sat, 05 Feb 2011 08:36

I just played DRII fresh from beating the #12 player on world tour with only 50 for power and it was in straight sets. I felt confident going into the match with DRII after the WT win. We had some long rallies(much longer than I am used to playing) Almost every long rally went his way?!?! He returned much better than me and broke me consistently. No matter what I threw at him and I like to think it was a lot but it didn't faze him at all. None of my defense worked at all?!?!? AAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I am so pissed right now!!! How the hell is it possible that every shot no matter what I threw at him he was on it!!!!! :x

I sadly can't say anythign about drII properly since we had to stop every 3 points lol.

Some players movement is just crazy as in you go "NO IT WAS IN OPEN COURT HOW GET?".

Did you try to attack the 'weaker' wing? Also if your serve isn't great he will jump on meaning more pressure on you so prob dont go for as much when returning because feel like can be broken any time.

Or we can just say he better than you lol :P

Simply because he is one of the best players on here , I have been thrashed by him many times , i have only ever beaten him once , and was on clay , they only way is to fight fire with fire i.e go for broke on virtually ever point

I agree with Andy, DRII is one of the best on tour. You really have to have a solid game to be able to even keep the score respectable as the top players will exploit any weakness you might have. This coupled with having only minute weaknesses themselves, the top players are a formidable proposition.

You really need to play a high level on EVERY point to stand a chance, and almost go for broke on every point. Just getting the ball in play is nowhere near enough.

It can be frustrating at times, but the more you play again the top players the better you will become. As long as you took something from the match its not a total loss.

the worst part is I left feeling like I didnt play badly. I had a break point. I thought I was generally making the ball go where i wanted it to go. My shots were not off. I would just stand there thinking im in control and then i see a winner sail by. WTF?!? :?:

man me and DRII, HAVE HAD SOME AWESOME MATCHES i think our head to head is 3-3 in mss and 4-3 to me in ms,, against this guy you have to serve very well hitting the line constantly and most importantly keeping the points short, if you get in to a long rally with this guy you have to risk or just forget about it an throw the towel in,, when i play him my main objective is keeping points short,, the guy is too good at rallying

Point taken. So I didn't know he was that good at rallying. My game is built on rallies. I don't think I've ever played someone quite like him. I really need to look into how I can make the points shorter because he is just flat out a superior rallier than me. Risking is so aggressive and I've never been that kind of a player. Next time I'll try to adjust and maybe not get spanked like I did. I'll never be able to serve well like some people in this game.
