Postby Smitty2384 » Tue, 24 Aug 2010 17:35

Can sum1 tell me how to do risk shots PROPERLY especially returning as i just cant get to grips with them at all. Everybody i play just seems to do it with ease n time the ball right. i cant do it n 95 % of time it hits the net. Any ideas?

its one of the most difficult things to do in TS3.

you must find the right time to release the buttons

First of, you have to be able to hit normal shots perfectly. The ball is hit clean, and hard, your controller vibrates to show you have done this.

Once you can do this consistently, you just add the risk buttons. Practice, practice, practice indeed

I know how frustrating it can be smitty! I could never do any risk shot until very recently, I'm by no means an expert yet but I can mix in the placement risk (l2 on ps3) in a match to give my opponent a different look. All of a sudden I win 2 titles.

It is very important to hit your shot cleanly and then at the end of your player's stroke; tap the risk trigger. At least this is how I do placement risk. I still don't know how to do power risk, the same method doesn't seem to produce the same effect.

Good luck! Its pretty necessary to know at least some risk to win in itst IMO.

Um...it is actually quite simple and I feel I should tell the secret but it took me long time to figure out on my own and feels unfair to just tell after destroying three controllers. lol

please do! :P

Everyone risks differently. Most important part for me is not "how" but rather "when" to risk. I find certain situations are suited for risk shots and therefore allow higher margin of "timing error".

But it is interesting, that everyone uses risk differently and all methods sorta work.

For me, it all matters about the pace of the ball coming to me. The slower the pace the more I tend to go with placement risks, the faster the pace I like to use double risk.

I also prefer to risk when I'm on the run, which is why I can get allot of shock winners when I'm in a completely defensive position. But the hardest part for me is that it is impossible to hit those type of shots if you prepress, which is something I occasionally still do. [/b]

I tried....

Seems others don't want to share the wealth. Lol

Smitty, if your hitting the ball into the net, you're probably swinging too early. Its very easy to over anticipate in TS3. Try taking a little more time to get a clean swipe.

I find its very much a timing thing and if u can get a rhtym on someones game it becomes more easy to do throughout the match thats why u gotta mix your game up against a risker or be better than they are at it lol

I will never understand why nobody here wants to "share" the wealth of discovering new ways of hitting shots? I find it easy to hit risk shots by holding down the triggers and then waiting for ball then tap your desired shot. There's the secret nobody will tell you in all these threads! :D

Here's another 1, I find it easier to hit the risk shots ie; the LT+RT+? with more consistency when you are well behind the baseline!

Volleying much the same...Once you get to net wait for the return hold both or either 1 of the triggers and tap your shot! Use the directional pad for placement!
