The SIM Exhibition Thread

Postby Baghdad Baghdatis » Tue, 13 Jul 2010 20:11

SIM was born on 17 Aug '09 @ SIM Test tournament. However 3 months after the launch the SIM concept was then thrown back into the "ITST workshop" to try and re-invent what SIM lovers were crying out for - ultimately to break free from the stacked player creation set up.

On 30 Nov'09 "The List" was released to the ITST world, having been carefully manufactured and perfected by a diverse team including Djarvik, Aniltje & the late 'Rob ITST'. 18 SIM warriors were born. Following a few modifications over the initial months and more recently the addition of 3 new pro's on 07 Jul'10 the roster is now 21 strong.

So following on from the success of "The Exhibition Thread" (created by Mack 2300) I thought it appropriate to start an official SIM Exhibition Thread - Welcome and encouraged for all XBOX & PS3 SIM lovers, pro's and newbies. Whether it be a slightly frustrating encounter or a titanic topspin battle fought right down to the wire just drop in your experience, the SIM Pro used and your opponent as you see fit.

Game on! 8)

=====================

To kick it off I just played two matches with Mack2300 - first Match Baghdad (Cannon) vs Mack (Mahone) 6-3 7-6 then Baghdad (Swatkowski) vs Mack (Mahone) 4-6.

Both matches were high intensity and rally driven - the newbies Mahone and Swatkowski match up nicely. Mahone appears to be a more ITST tourny player and I can see his popularity rising amongst all levels. Saying that Swatkowski in the right hands can be really effective, to overcome the 54 power with some nice LT's and the occasional LT+RT will have him competing at a high level.....

Good thread. You mind if I move it to "Top Spin 3 General" ? This way PS3 players will know to check and post in it as well.

Yep, good thread, i've played several matches against Djarvik, and i think i didn´t manage to win any of them, but we had good fun.
I remember playing once with Mahone v Djarvik using Grissom, the first set Mahone was unstoppable but then Mahone got exhausted and Grissom's high stamina started to work....Gil won the match in 3 tough sets
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Yeah, good matches.

You actually won one. You used Grissom and I used Swatkowski. 7.6 3.6 6.1

Grissom is one "nasty" mofo  You really need to keep the ball away from him, and make him run. I think the fact that he is short is good - cause if he had a few more inches he would be unstoppable. I tried to mix with Swtakowski the best I can and even that last 6-1 set was far from blowout, it was close with me having BPs in every service game. I think my biggest issue was that I got so used to serving with white stat that all of a sudden having so much on serve hurt me. I used the timing wrong and basically sucked on serve.

I like how Grissom is ANTI-Mahone, somehow they match-up extremely well!

Played Alex the other day in a Mahone v. Mahone match, I won 7-5, but it could have been Any Score.

He starts off straight away by holding a tight service game then breaking me for a 2-0 lead, however i hold then break back for 2-2, after this every game had at least a break point, we constantly saved break point after break point. At 4-5 he had 15-40 and a second serve, i save it by serve and volleying then saved the second one. At 5-5 i manage to get a break and i somehow manage to serve it out easily.
He had 1/7 break points, i had 2/8.
Mahone has a really weak serve and we both really struggled holding. My BH was the 90 and his FH was the 90 so we had lots of my FH to his BH rallies then one of use would take a risk by going to the stronger wing.
Tough mental game, glad to win this one

 I always have these with Alex.....like, who will pull the trigger first...so cool!!! Love that part about SIM! We both know that these exchanges are not meant to heart us, we both being very patient and not taking it on the second ball, we both wait for that slightest opening, that shorter then normal ball, or that less of an angle - to attack.

....some of the rallies I have with Moralspain is plain "Insane!" ....we both are willing to exchange slower places shots and or deep top spins (alla Nadal  ) So we end up getting the ball so high...it almost looks like a power-lob-kinda-stupid-ball....but tons of fan!!!

Yeah those sim matches with Baghdad were great fun. His Canon character in the first match just frustrated me to death though with how amazingly brilliant his weaker wing(50 something backhand in this case) was. I had 90 on my backhand yet he was winning all the backhand to backhand duels. I didn't think it was possible to come up with crazy angles with such a low stat but it is testament to how good he is at sim :)

You were crazy as Venus. Forehand is his weaker wing.

Yeah I don't really use gameplans :P But seriously when you see someone with an 87 forehand and a 53 backhand it seems obvious which side is going to be their weaker wing. But yes I'll just target the forehand side exclusively next time if I can 8)
