Top Spin X10

Postby Tantsutallinn » Sun, 23 May 2010 16:38

As Sony Ericsson came up with Xperia X10 straightaway, what about a new tennis game that leaps from Top Spin 3 to a dream game like Top Spin X10 (majority of ideas are coming from DMT and tiger woods golf game):

1. Web Camera face generation like in Tiger Woods. It takes time to take pictures and adjust the pinpoints, but after 10 minute waiting time the 3D result of your face is stunning. Even the irregularities are seen and its great.

2. New control system. You run still with left stick, but make a shot with right stick just like in golf, down and up and you can control the direction, when you put it up more to the left or more to the right. But for directing you need more. And crucial for making a harder shot is stepping into the shot with left stick up, when on back foot, you will have less power. stepping in also gives more depth to the shot.

3. To control the direction even more it depends how early you take the ball like in DMT. no more explanation needed

4. Usually on the baseline you hit top spin shot. By adding the left bumber you can make a slice, by adding right bumber you make a flat hard shot, what is meant only for high balls - if lower, it will go into the net. Drop shot will be the same as now, right stick up and then down. For lob i have no idea :D, maybe when you add both bumpers

5. By adding Left Trigger you can run faster, but cant turn around so fast anymore. By adding right trigger you can make a reflection shot that gives you more control, but less power. For returns for example.

5. Just like in Tiger woods you can tune your racquets, by having more sweet spot, more power or more control.

Wouldn't it be a dream game with great graphics ;)

PS. If Xperia X10 wont have Android 2.2 by autumn, then there is no leap :D

Yes, that would be cool. I don't think the bumpers are needed to change shot types, just have all the different shots decided by the right stick.

Not sure about the "new control system", in my opinion the game would be extremely difficult..... i like the left trigger thing to run faster :D

I think its an interesting idea. But for now ill be happy when they just release a new Top Spin. No matter if its revolutionary or not.

I dislike Web Camera face generation.

They take photos of your face, in 2D ofcourse, and slap them on top of a predefined 3D shape.

My face is way too lush for that, wouldn't want to play a game looking like a grumpy Jankovic now , would I!

well that way it would be really tough :D but its possible nevertheless, just adjust so that you can make a shot even when you miss your slice turn from left

I like everything except the right stick control system. I feel like the "right stick systems" were kind of a novelty and a fresh new concept that are just getting kind of overused and pretty tired. Top Spin incorporating the stick serve sort of even capitalizes on this. As far as every shot with the stick... ehhhhh I have a feeling people will be breaking off sticks left and right! lol

I do really like all the other ideas, though. I especially agree that there are to be more tuning of the racquets. Even adding some significance at all to them would be nice, as opposed to the "merely cosmetic" approach TS3 takes.
