FRENCH OPEN - Roland Garros SIM predictions (Xbox)

Postby Baghdad Baghdatis » Fri, 21 May 2010 10:18

"Well it has been a busy week here at Roland Garros, with preparation of the grounds and media press surrounding the commencement of the famous red clay tournament the parisians just love to adhore - live coverage begins Monday 24th May and there is much debate both in and outside the locker room about who will be triumphant after 2 grueling weeks of 5 set baseline tennis!"

In side the global top 10 as it stands today, despite the absence of EPOX (retirement), Anteros (undecided - reigning Aussie Open Champ), Swifty (AWOL), Jaga (Undecided) - there is still a lot of quality both inside and more interestingly perhaps outside the top 10.

BAGHDAD KEBAB's Predictions:

1. Norberto H

This guy has been around longer than a piece of drift wood, a champion through and through and reigning world number 1 following the temporary
retirement of Baghdad Kebab. A power game that always puts the frighteners on his opponents and a player who can amend his game plan when required - he will want to avoid his bogey player Djarvik. Odds 4/1

2. Baghdad Kebab

The middle eastern star returns at Roland Garros following a 6 week break from the competitive matches - press has caught glimpses of his hard work on the practice courts with Moral Spain & Puttu Puttuu in this past week - can he shake off the rust and make a good run in his second major of the year? Odds 5/1

3. AMAZING ZIZOU

A serve and volley wizard whose intelligence and credibility on the court is one the tour respects. Some critics were writing him off 3 months ago but recent results and a change of coaches has seen this legend rekindle the 'Amazing' form - you will not want to be caught up in a 5 setter with this tennis wall I can tell you. Odds 9/1

4. Djarvik

Current world number 4 after some recent big wins and masters 1000 shield - never any doubt about his ability, although now he has the belief and is putting the time into the tour full time he is without a doubt a major threat at this years slam. Odds 6/1

5. RAE1980

The Ivan Lendel of the top 6, still searching for that first title, a player jinxed by finals nerves some would say, however an outstanding talent who is still maturing and keeping his head held high as one of the best. Can he shock the world and take home the title? Odds 11/2

6. ACEUSAM

The Santoro of the group, he is a little hungry winning machine who just loves competing at the top level - has the ability to win on the big stage but needs to do it consistently if he is going to take home the title this year. Odds 12/1

However a lot of talk is around two new rising stars:

12. Puttu Putuu

Having already received a recognition award for 'most improved player'
this young star is afraid of nobody on the tour. "Watch out MUHAHAA" was the statement he gave to press outside the practice court 2 yesterday.
Odds 8/2

13. Illuvbillval

Many are predicting him the next world number 1, and who would argue any different. Top of his class at the youth acadamy he is more than living up to his hype - a gentleman on the tour. 7/1

While the fans are still anticipating the return of the Anteros, the reigning Aussie Open champion & finalist / legend Picachu there are others players who are tipped to turn on the magic including Specialist, Coolhand Texas, Moral Spain, SMP (if he plays), Fedfan & Mack to name a few.

Quiet please, PLAY!!!

Nicely done Kebab. Winner to be either Norberto or Djarvik. Both seem to be brimming with confidence.
I'm just looking forward to being unseeded here..hopefully I can draw a top 10 in the first round and score an upset

I've got to go with Djarvik on this one. Right now he is BY FAR the toughest sim player I think. No slight to ya, Baggy but I dunno if you've played Al lately? What a beast! He's overflowing with confidence and it shows in pretty much every single rally.
Norberto H or bust.

Nice prediction Iluv, Djarivk is definately a serious contender - to be honest DJ & I have not played properly in 6 / 7 weeks before I took my break. Around that time we had 2 really close matches which went both ways from memory. We consistently struggle to play due to A) Lag & B) Time zone difference - any matches that we do manage to play are usually so hampered by lag on DJ's side that it is never a true reflection / proper match.

It looks as though over the last few weeks especially he is rising up for sure - now I am back, I have a new found motivation to play so I will be focused :)

EPOX has entered and Joesixtoe - you wouldn't want to be facing Joe early on in the draw unseeded

Djarvik is overrated ... had him for lunch yesterday ( 6-4 6-4). SF against Rae or infamous slappy , never played slappy ...
Wouldn't be it funny that with all the bragging ive been doing in the last couple of weeks i get knocked out in the 1 st round ...

It couple happen , a few great players are unseeded ...
Looking forward to some 5 set epics !!! last one i had was against Amazing Matheja at the US open ... just about won 6-7, 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 if i remember he had a3-1 one lead in the 5th.
These are the matches we truly remember !!! can't wait !

PS: ( this what i really think ) In fact all of you guys play like crap at the moment ... common let's face it , you better get your act together ... ( stirring things up )

Baghdad mate you can't win a slam after sitting on your ass for 6 weeks .... doesnt quite work that way ...

Zizou well he is french ... he will crumble in the 5th set as all the amazings do .

Aceusam will retire in the fourth set against Norberto to prove a point AGAIN! ( notice how i mention a hypothetical fourth set... see it as a compliment )

Epox Fr :He is my pal , he will win for sure or lose against me . In any case , i will blame everything on lag until he gives me a rematch that i can win.

Anteros : rubbish

Picachu : Again rubbish no chance

Illuvbilval : mate if you and me meet again , i'll just set up a paypal transfer > nice and easy no fuss . i 'll give you 30 bucks if you make it look like a 5 set epic .

Anyway Good luck to you all !

Interesting stuff, "had him for lunch", love it! - Just for the record Puttu & I had some pre RG practice in a 5 setter, it was a classic match. Puttu win 6-7 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-2.

If we are all completely honest there is so much talent in the draw that rather than perhaps a year ago there were perhaps 3 players who were more than expected to take home the title (i.e. Pichacu, Anteros, Noberto) now I really feel there are genuinely say 8 players who are arguably all as good at each other at there best in SIM, consistently defeat one another and who have a real chance to play great tennis.

Its all about confidence and playing the the big matches well. Look at Noberto, he has an edge in some of the tours but recently is getting beat regularly by Djarvik and myself - however he has the ability to turn that round in an instant. EPOX won a masters I believe and then retired, now he is back, so he cannot be counted out. Puttuu and I beat each other 50/50 etc - DJ and I very rarely play due to the above so anything can happen if we meet - hard to predict.

Whilst say DJ's style (for example) may neutralise Noberto's style, I am sure other players, like Puttu has just proven, can be taken for lunch. I seem to struggle against Aceusam a lot, can't sometimes get into his games ,however Noberto seems to have his number etc etc.

Win or loose, I am excited - even more excited about Wimbledon, I think it should be compulsory to wear all whites again!

Hahaha, I love it! Move over mister nice guy, brilliant!

Well, this is what I think (just to stir it all up)

As Big foot greg said to me once on the world tour "I am the real number 1" - Noberto is simply keeping my seat warm for me. I am number one because I am better than you all overall, I can play all the shots better than you, serve more varied and dress better for that matter - a true greek god.

@Puttuu - roll out your chubby andre agassi character with the cheap tyson face tattoo who has been around longer Paulo Maldini and get your fat *** on court

I never considered nor I do now, myself as a man to beat. But, I will tell you this...wait for a no lag match, I will make you eat that bagel, and say "thank you".

Also, you not bragging pffff...bragging would be up-playing, praising your own game. What you are doing is fueling your oh so fragile state of mind by taking shots at other players. Laaaammmmo. Where is the grace? ....oh you wanted to be a baaaad booooy? hahahah

Hold both triggers on return and stand 20 feet behind the baseline, serve wide 99% of the time and make sure to finish the point early, cause guess what? ....you suck when it comes to actual tennis. The only skill you got is holding LB RB buttons.....plyaaa! haha!

P.S. - what I really think is that it is between Baghdad, Norberto and Anteros.

We all are not there yet.

A year? .....it seems to me that only 2 weeks ago you lost a 6.1 set to me, then another 6.3 or something.....leaving the match abruptly after that first set. Claiming "movement lag" or something like that. Let me my Nadal impersonation here: "No?"

ITST is not for venting for sure man, just as a side note. What we have here is fun and all.....but if it will get to the point when people are truly "lashing out or venting" ....... we will lock the thread and send out bills to each involved.

I like how you deflect.
