Popular and unpopular SIM players and strategies.

Postby djarvik » Wed, 05 May 2010 16:45

There has been some talk about some players being used more then others. :D

My point of view on this is that the most popular are:

PS3
1. Canon
2. Nakamura
3. House

Xbox
1. Bashmakov
2. Thompson
3. Lopez

This is from my personal experience. I am very surprised on how much different these top picks are. It seems Bashamakov completely disappeared from PS3. And on Xbox, I have only played one other Nakamura besides myself.

What are your thoughts?
Who do you consider the weakest players on Roster?

Ilovbillval is killing EVERYONE with Thompson. I mean I can't keep up with him.... I certainly would not consider Thompson as a weakest player. He is not for everyone, for sure.

Okay, take thompson of that list then

The otehr two, even though sixx has goor fh and return, its impossible to keep serve a lot of the time, so that puts muuch more pressure on you to break. And this just isnt going to happen against a cannon/bashmakov etc

I think Bishop is the best, why? Because, see, I have what may be the worst serve on PS3. And Bishop has one of the worst serves on the roster. And I can still win matches. That's more than enough proof.

Nahhh Bishop is far from weakest. Not to me. I find playing with him is a breeze. He moves well, has THE best shots. Great return. As for serve.....you just have to be smart about placing and variety on it. Plus, if you constantly pressure your opponent on returns....holding becomes easier.

Anteros is the only one on Xbox in SIM, that used to routinely win set of me with 6.0 or 6.1 using Bishop.

if we talk about the ranking of most popularis:
1:nakamura...60%of players use him
2:Cannon
3:gray

i don't think now there are weak players...it depends on how u use them...but there are players that noone use:
Bashmakov:he is desapperead
Fussman
Jansen
Rogers

Lorenz:only fedfan test him at the beginning...noone gave him a chance

On PS3

Strongest

Nakamura
Cannon
Gray

Weakest

Johnson
Rogers
Sixx

S & V with the likes of Lightman and Jansen is near impossible against Nakamura, Gray and Cannon. Sixx is just weak, same as Johnson... Rogers has no winning shot.

Cannon isn't over powered like he used to be... So it's not necessarily really easy with Cannon... (It's easy to hold serve, if you have put away the 3rd shot everytime, which a lot of players can).

Stats wise, Nakamura is strongest on paper..

I think to play with Rogers....you need to be able to risk great. If someone like Lonamer or Jose would give him a try, learn a bit how to play with him... they would dominate. He is so fast that he really doesn't need to return great, just put the ball in play.....you almost guaranteed to get to the next ball. And then you need to start risking....and I think the first risk should be a R2(RT) risk....to take away time from a much slower opponent and get on top of a rally. Once on top, you might as well have 40 power and strokes.....

Haven't seen any Johnsosns at all...none....so not sure if he is strong or weak. On paper he looks solid. Not powerful, but good strokes and good speed.

Fusman is another character that is not being used, but I think he is great. I used him briefly and caused a lot of frustration to a lot of people.

Anyone other than me thinking of giving Bucci a try for the French? That stamina may come in handy after grueling long points on clay. Only problem, I can totally see my match getting "disconnected" and all stamina advantage gone. ARGH!!!!

I've retired my nakamura, he's the SIM equivalent of 4x90 80 40 40 at this point. (in my humble opinion of course)
