Restricting Height and Weight

Postby Rob ITST » Fri, 12 Mar 2010 04:59

If for no other reason than to stop the endless discussions, should we set restrictions on height and weight for the 40-90 tours?

We'll let you decide this, and if you vote yes, then we'll discuss what the restrictions should be.

I only said yes because I use a light 5'9" character. Which may put me at disadvantage, not really sure. Although all the matches I've lost have had little to do with those stats, maybe my reach is shorter so I can't put it back in play as much.

I vote yes. I don't really think we should have to do this at all really. I do agree with you, though just to shut everyone up about it would be nice and no "you're fatter than me that's why you won" BS anymore. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it anyway there's really no need to have a guy that's 6'9'' 5 million pounds make that guy in like some WWE game or something!
Norberto H or bust.

My thoughts exactly...for something that supposedly has no advantages and plenty of disadvantages (    BTW), some people sure do not take kindly to the idea of having to abandon their fatass.

Gee wonder if it's because YOU ARE NOT AS GOOD A PLAYER WITHOUT HIM

The weight is really an aesthetic thing (I think it looks retarded as hell to play against a total fatass but I don't care), but the height is where the guys who use these players get their unpenalized advantages in court coverage and wingspan on service returns.

And taking Ivo Karlovic in exemple for no restriction is absurd :
-The guy never won a BIG match (Final...)
-Send him some short balls in the feet, the guy is in trouble...
So you can't compare the Hulks able to reach any kind of shots, moving like jaguar, and able to win Masters1000 or Grand Slam, with guys like Karlovic,Witten...

I don't think we need BIG restrictions...Just need to avoid ridiculous monsters playing like Agassi...

Hell yes!
And don't give me the "fat giant does not have any advantages" talk.
If that's the case, why don't you switch to a normal player then?

Ivo Karlovic, John Isner, both aren't valid arguments. When they have 85+ on both wings, 70+ speed or 70+ return, then that argument can be made. Until then, I think 6'9" is just as stupid as 4x90.

that is true, in my opinion the physicist is very related to the skills of every tennis player, I believe that the logical thing would be the statistics restrict according to the weight and the height of every player, if you create a player of 205 cm or 100 kg, you cannot put 70 or + in speed, as if you create a player of 175-180cm is not very realistic to put 90 in service, for example, but i don´t think that this idea like to fans of 90-40.

and that's exactly what I was getting at in the murda thread. If you start making small conditional changes like: "If player X is over 100 k he must have less than 67 speed" and so on, not only will it be needlessly complicated, but it certainly wouldn't stop with just one rule.
But a blanket cap might actually work, it's simple enough. Despite having no skin in the game, I voted yes.
