Change of Format?

Postby djarvik » Thu, 28 Jan 2010 01:12

What do you think if we change Davis cup format a bit?

What I am thinking is that if we play "5 sets tie break" matches it will not take a long time, it will be really competitive...as a few errors could really cost you the match.

The whole match will take no longer then 15-20 minutes.

I know it is drastic, but maybe this way we can actually complete it on time.

Well, Davis Cup is not as important .....as it Shows in ATP.....they are looking for a solution as well (found something I guess)

All I am saying that it might be fun. It is quick. It will have a full score line and a story to each match.

I think it might actually work. Presuming people actually want it this way.

Maybe still play 5 sets, but instead of TB's, perhaps 3 game sets? Both can still serve a few times, the drama of a TB is still there as well. And it isn't as long.

Usually in friendlies, this is the format I play. You can practice holding serve and practice the inevitable TB that awaits most TS3 matches.

It's definitely a good thought Djarvik, cuz it seems that PS3 Davis Cup is lagging.

3 set
but 3rd set is a super tiebreak(to 10)
like double matches in atp...

matches will be shorter but not too short!
