Extra Slow Kick Serve

Postby djarvik » Sun, 08 Mar 2009 22:47

Up for discussion: the Extra Slow Kick Serve.

First of all, anyone who will comment here: Behave! No bashing, just discussion.

I have seen a number of players starting to use this serve.

I'll be honest, I can't return it well, hence this poll.

A decent number of members had expressed concern about such serving, so the poll is simple: Cheese or Not.

Now, I am not saying it is cheesy or not cheesy. We just have to find a reasonable answer to it. If anyone knows what is the proper way to return such serve, Let me know! ...if there is no effective way, vote cheese.

Thank you!

I find that normal returns work best against it. I do hate the serve though, since I find it hard to risk.

BTW: What is slow? 'Cause you like throwing in some -100mph serves. :P

Agreed. Consider this thou, you need to have some were around 80 to execute an effective no risk return, otherwise you are right away on the run. So basically, at any given moment, for example: when a player is down, he can serve this way and just put it away in the opposite direction.

I am talking about a player that is very skillful, and using the serve not by accident, but because of it's exceptional effectiveness. Well at least it works wonders against me!

so, non risk puts me on the run, risk is extremely hard to execute.

sub 90 first serve like that, mixed with regular serve, truly transforms the returns into guessing game.

Any other suggestions?

i dont find it cheesy at all, as Rob stated normal returns work fine against it......if they are going to use risk returns it is cheesy to mix it up?

eventually we are probably going to have a rule that says u have to have 90 on serve and hit it straight down the middle every time

if a player is waiting for the risk serve it is smart to throw in the changeup

Slow is 90. And VERY short kick serve. So he ball bounces very high.

Well, the obvious way is to step in.......but.....as the rules of ITST indicates, no returns from inside the court.

The tip is to move before you hit the return.

To answer the question, I don't think there is such a thing as a cheesy serve on TS3.

Read above please.

Do you believe what you say yourself? ...that anything less then 70 on returns can work against a player like you? non risk return I mean.

Really? ....you think you will be in trouble after a non risk return like that?

c'mon!

But if you say so, I shell definitely try.

When they're that slow, I don't think the return stat matters - it's easy to hit good returns.

Tried that.... doesn't work. Well, it works to a degree. But unless you really place it well, you are toast.

Rob,

I am not sure that it is cheesy, it is that usually "cheesy" attracts a lot of attention.

I am just looking for solution.

lol im not going to give away my tips but there is definitly a way to return it........my serve stat is at 50, so yes if i dont use risk serve the serve is going to be slow..........if i had my serve at 90 then it also would have its advantages..............

Go for angles.
I agree it is the hardest serve I have to deal with.

Tried that.

Pica, you played me today, your memory should be fresh.

Am I a terrible returner? ...do I not generate angles?

I was able to deal with it in the first set, second....but by the time 3rd set rolls, your stamina is preventing you from effectively not risking...so you have to risk.

aha... so the answer is not yet on the board!

Well, serving 90 mhp on big points is a strategy with a small "s", it looks more like exploit
