Anyone playing with Bishop may want to consider to serve with no triggers at all. Yes, the serve will be slow, but you still can place it well and it will give you a maximum amount of time to react to return. When you don't risk (that includes serving) your player becomes more responsive and recovers better to the next shot.

...think of Ferrer, Hewitt, Nalbandian.....they rarely go hard for the lines/aces on their serve, they prefer to hit a high percentage serves into the body or slightly off to opponents weak side. That gives them more first serves in and more time to react.....but do it too much and opponent will start punishing you.

Balance is the key, mostly soft well placed serves, and some hard risk serves to keep the returner honest.
Level 13 Edberg and counting...

i read your previous posts about mixing the serve and in fact now i mix my serve a lot.
i hit 70% of serve with L2+O or L2+Square and 30% using R2+L2+O or square or X.
i noticed that i serve "slow" i make more points than when i serve "fast" because i have more time to react...
the real problem of bishop's serve is the 3rd set...he is too tired!

Sound (Cannon) Vs Matt (Gray) - R32
7-6, 5-7, 7-6

1st Set:

We both held comfortably. Matt's serves were too good, his 3rd shot was even better. One two punch left me with no chance. We shared the same number of aces 4 each I think. He had 1 bp. Very even set. I had an early mini break in the tie break, he got it back.. I had another mini break, he got that back LOL. Eventually I managed to get a nice L2 angled shot, causing a weak reply and I put the easy forehand winner away for the set. He actually won one more point than me.

2nd Set:

Very similar to the first. Matt had the upper hand, the shorter the points. If I got into a rally, I felt I had a chance. Here I put more pressure on him, getting about 4 bps... He saved these. I served at 5-6, my stamina was poor causing weak shots, Matt took the invitation to break and took it. We won exactly the same number of points.

3rd Set:

We had a disconnection around the middle of the set. Eventually got to the tie break. Matt served first, winning his point which put pressure on me. I held my nerve and won my 2 serves. At this stage, my heart was pumping, very difficult to hit clean shots :D I went on to lead 5-2, Matt gifted me a double fault I think. I served it out.

Matt showed good sportsmanship after the match.

Sound (Cannon) Vs patko (Cannon) - R16
6-4, 6-7, 6-3

1st Set:

I used a right handed Cannon with Double Handed BH, patko used Lefty with Single BH. patko was prepared for the clay, standing well behind the baseline, looking to rally. He went for his risk shots too, I felt I managed to frustrate him from just scrambling everything back, causing him to hit errors. Him serving at 4-5, I got lucky with a few points, I tried extra hard to take the set and got it. patko hit more winners, but also more errors.

2nd Set:

patko breaks me early. He got 5-3 lead, serving for the set. I've been trying extra hard to break back, no success.. He would hit amazing T serve ace to save bps... Perhaps a some pressure built up, he hit a double fault. I took a bp this time. We went to tie break, he won this easily 7-2, I think my stamina effected my game..

3rd Set:

Him serving first, but I broke straight away. During the middle of the set, we had really bad lag... There were a few times when the screen would freeze for about 5 - 10 seconds, but luckily no disconnection. We held on, playing in the worst condition possible... Him serving at 3-5, I took my first matchpoint.

Good, intense and fun match.

I lost to brgerflipr 6-3 3-6 7-6! In the first set I was playing pretty safely and he took advantage and got the break and won it. Second set I get broken immediately so I decide to risk return and it works out with me winning the set 6-3. In the second set I break immediately but cannot hold my next service game and than he breaks me again at 3-2 but I break back and we hold serve until the tiebreak. Where he beats me 7-4!
