HI, again ys i use well the dropshots it can be frustrating.

Bud god, i NEVER uses and above all vs djarvik serve and just after dropshots.

Never used consecutively after serve.I use him like a change of pace and surprise.

I use too well this shot, its my fault.

No worries bud. You have used serve then drop shot to me in the past that's all.. and I know how it feels being on the receiving end :D

You have done it to me in one match (long time ago now), and it was consecutive points. You used it quite often and it made me think if you were just practicing drop shots as it was an exhibition match. If you had done this to me more times, I would have brought it up nicely with you on PSN.

By the way, I say you can hit the dropshot too well, that is as a compliment! Certainly I don't mean it's your fault and I certainly don't mean for you to stop using them... I wish I can hit them like you honestly!

When I see you hit a perfect drop shot to wrong foot me, I think well played to you and I enjoy watching that point. BUT, I don't think the same when I see Serve, then Dropshot.

My honest views, and please don't take offense, I really enjoy playing with you (although you make me mad as I can't beat you  )

Hitting a dropshot as a counter off of an opponent's hard-hit groundstroke is cheesy. Why? because if it doesn't happen in real tennis, then it's just a game glitch.

I haven't played marlon much, so I don't know if he does this. But there is nothing more ridiculous than charging up, hitting a really hard bh/fh and your opponent "defends" it w/ a dropshot. Just stupid.

Yea, real good tennis there. I see it all the time, Roger will hit a 100+ mph FH to Rafa, only to have Rafa return it w/ a dropshot for a winner.

Risk-slice - same argument as above.

I've never played marlon, so can't comment but playing djarvik is always very fair. Trust me, i am the world's worst loser. If i lose to you after a close match and you get a 'good game' for me you're lucky, i normally leave in a huff and cursing myself for letting the other person win, even if i've just been outplayed. I know, i have no class lol you should be gracious in defeat etc, and i am, but only after half a hour or so :)

Anyway i think i play 98% of the time clean. occasionally i will hit a short risk slice after meaning to hit a deep one, but the most common breach of play i do is i sometimes hit a serve inside the baseline, but only when i go to chip and charge. The success rate of this is like less than 10% lol so most people just see it, laugh for a while, and hit a pass :) This isn;t about me though, i just think the short slice is a extremely dodgy tactic to use, when you are BP or set point or match point down, of course you're gonna bail out to your high percentage play. but that play doesn't have to be a risk slice! it can be a booming serve to thier weak wing and a crippler groundstroke ;) but not a dodgy play like serve-risk slice or serve-dropshot.

As they say here in england, "it's just not cricket!" :)

marlon

Postby Lonamer11 » Sun, 04 Apr 2010 08:19

I've played a lot of matches against marlon and to think that he's cheesy??? i'm shocked

Look he's a very aggresive guy with a lot of risk shots and his drop shots are unstoppable. But because he does it 3 4 times in game does that mean he's cheesy??? come on man. He's just very good at it.

He's slicing more lately that's true but it isnt a all risk slice. He uses a lot of no pace slices similar to djarvik (the only 2 i know who can do that). Also i've never seen him serve wide and then a short slice.

Djarvik not to brag or anything or try to offend you in any way, but everyone has a safe play that is annoying. from drop shot to slice to serve to return. Not every match is gonna be fun and to stop a match because you are bored or find his game lame is a little bit over the top. If he didnt respected the rules it is understandable.

Yeah man, 3-4 dropshots a game is cheesy man. In my eyes - yes, completly stupid and boring. Add to that serve and slice combo and I am out. This is a friendly match with the player that I had have bad expirience before...so you damn righ I will stop playing, why should I have to endure this?

Honestly, if it was you, Coke, Sound, Brgrflipr ... I would have endure it, but with all due respect to Marlon, the first match we played with him, was a complete cheesefest. After which I have pmed him and explained a few things. He thanked me and said he understood. He stopped most of the nonesense. We then played a few times, with him playing relatively clean.

This time, he was clean as well, while ahead.

Anyway, this whole thing is way smaller then this thread suggests. I never called Marlon cheesy or breaking the rules, I simply stopped playing cause I was kinda bored, the match seemed to be a strugle from my side between trying to get to countless dropshots... and when I finnaly got to a few and had break points, he was very crafty in saving them.

So I apologize to Marlon, I think he and I got more then we bargained for.

Thanks man.

This is cool. and thx to lonamer who have played much times with me, who don't feel the obligation to go to the same way vs me.Impartial man.Good.

And thanks to you djarvik. Was a good match and i was disapointed by the fact you stop just after i have break your serve, with a great game.

Maybe there is 3 months ago, i played a strange way.Now i respect this game and the aspirations of others players and try to play the most complete and sensible game i can.

Believe me, in our quarters i will try to hit not too many dropshots.Because you talk about that and i can understand.

Had great match last days with josenylund,maximo,alex,nitoflament,lonamer...
I invite all the players who want to play vs me, to take a good moment of fun tennis and do a match.

See you all on tournaments.

There was one BNP Paribas tournament still "open." Now closed. The rankings should update later tonight.

i had same in one of my last itst matches. after i leaded 4-1 in first set ,my opponent started dropshot permanently .that was so ridicolous .
my fault was that i was not prepaired for this cheesy tactic.
it looks i must go more into training to counter chesy tactics- guys like that also got no GG after the match. lol

BTW: when i run into a cheesefest (good one djarvik ) outside from itst ,than i stopp directly the match.
