I've had some classic tight best of 5 matches with Sound these days. I had lost three in a row on the Brinsley grass, losing in 3 sets with Striker and Nakamura vs. resp. Lightman and Lopez. After that I played with Bishop vs his Lightman on the Brinsley grass. Was really close. Don't know the exact scores of 1st 3 sets, but it ended up like 6-3 4-6 4-6 7-5 6-7 to Sound.

Today we played a best of 5 at Roland Garros, again Bishop vs. Lightman. I can't be bothered to write the whole match report, but is was varied play from both sides.
In the 1st set we both held until 3-2, when I broke Sound. Held serve to 5-2, but Sound held too and broke back to 5-4. I was lucky to break again and take the set 6-4. Was playing really aggressive in the 1st set.

In 2nd set Sound raised his level and I lost some of the aggression. One break was enough for him to take it 4-6.

In 3rd set I was really struggling with my stamina, had no power on my shots. Sound was dominating from baseline and at the net, and easily took it 2-6.

4th set started of with an immediate break by Sound. With me trailing 0-2 it looked just a matter of time before Sound would finish the match. Nevertheless I found my aggressive game right back in time. Held serve and broke back for 2-2. Then it went on serve to 5-4, when I managed to break Sound.

5th set was really close, with breakpoints for both players. I was the lucky one to convert one, and subsequently went on to win 6-3, converting my 1st matchpoint for a change.

The stats were really close:

TomBs (Bishop) def. SoundfSilence (Lightman) 6-4 4-6 2-6 6-4 6-3

88% 1st serve % 85%
65% Win % on 1st serve 63%
56% Win % on 2nd serve 55%
0 Aces 1
0 Double Faults 0
82 Winners 75
42 Unforced Errors 47
5/10 Break Points 5/10

Nooo i lost in 4 sets against brgrflipr :(
I don't remember the score but i had more winners than him in the match for sure! :)
Everything went pretty well for me just some crucial points he got me and broke me in every set he won.
The set i won 6-3 I had 25 winners he had 1
Risk shots were going great and volleys to so i have no shame.
I played fair not like oltichinco says about my game and me and flipr had great rallys aswell.

This was a much were i only screamed i once at the TV and was very happy about playing on the tour.
If I start playing like I did against brgflipr I can look foward to good stuff! :D
Can't wait till brgflipr has his report LOL :P

The match went exactly as andman said. He played very aggressive. He was either killing my serves, attacking the net or hitting forehand winners. I felt like I was fighting for my life the entire match. He held serve VERY easily and I struggled every time w/ my serves. However, he played one loose game each set and I was able to capitalize.

Unlike past posts, I have nothing but good things to say about andman. He played a very clean, fair match. No dropshots, risk slices or cheesy play. If he keeps up this level of play, he'll definitely be a force to reckoned w/ at Wimby.

Brger (Gray) def. Riley (Cannon) 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4

Riley came out of the gates firing and before I knew what hit me, I was down 2 breaks and lost the first set.

He also dominated the second set, but I managed to get it to a TB and steal the set. He probably deserved to win the second set as well.

3rd & 4th sets, stamina became an issue, his serve slowed down a bit (thank God) and I was able to do a little more on returns.

I think that Riley is an excellent player and just needs a little more experience and some fine tuning of his skills. If he continues to work w/ Lonamer, he'll be top 10 very very soon. An excellent player. And also.......no cheese at all. Hard risking, power tennis. No stupid dropshots, no gay risk-slices.

thanks alot for your nice comments brgerflipr, the 1st set i just went for it, because in the previous 2 rounds i had to come back from 2 sts down to win the matches,, in the 2nd set i proberley did deserve to take it but i remember at 5-5 in the tie break you hit a shot it was going out and i stupidly caught the ball at my feet returned it back to you and u hit a winner down the line, that was the turning point in the match then, i cant blame the stanima for my loss in the final 2 sets my serving poor with a few double faults my serving was wayward and u took advantage with good returns,, all credit to you brgerflipr u fully deserved the win in the end i just wish i took the 2nd set coz things may of been diffrent but all credit to u, your an awesome player and u get to alot of balls and risk at the right time,, i hope your right that i can make top 10 soon thats my aim and with a little more experience i may just get there,,, gd luk in RG mate.

Yeah every set i had 1 loose game :(
Not to mention i had 3 break points in your first serve game and did not take them :(
Even know I probably got more winners (we had 2 disconnection) you just waited for my mistakes and did not worry that i ws dominating my service games
My fault was that on ur service games I was like 30-15 up and u did a serve in the middle and i was stupid enough to risk on those occasions :(
Good luck in the Quarters :P

MarlonBrando "OntheWaterfront" as House*

Defeats 7-6 6-7 7-6 7-5

MattU2NV "Karlovic" as Gray*

Lucky.I was very lucky to win this match.

MattU2NV has a nightmare serve. We have in the end the same number of aces but the number of serve winners where i just send the ball in the court for nothing is impossible to count.I struggled with his karlo serve during all the match.

At his fantastic serve game i opposed him a big defense battle.I tried to just put the ball on hi side for forced him to the error. In the third set set my stamina started to try help me to my defensive game.

The statistics show perfectly how the match was. Time of the match is 2hours

Good Game Matt was a great match who certainly could go either way.

MarlonBrando Matt4U2NV
1st serve % 76 75

Im in the middle of me and tonedawg's match. We got to 4-6 3-2 yesterday before freeze occured and he had to go. So far today we are upto 4-6 6-7 0-1 with me to serve. This time his mum was yelling and he had to go.

Im annoyed cause i would have a clear stamina advantage(im house, him Gray) but happy-ish ive managed to stay close to his level :)

Finally lost to tonedawg 6-4 7-6 6-7 7-6. Was a good match despite the constant light 'rain' throughout , the 'rain delay' and the medical timeout

1st Set:He broke immediately.Went 2-0 up. We both held till 4-3 where i broke back. He then rebroke immediately and served it out.

2nd Set: We both held 6 in a row, with very little opposition on each others serve. The 'rain delay' occurred at 3-2. It postponed the match overnight.

3rd Set: Again, no breaks of serve. However both players came up with some courageous play to save break points( 5 saved by me, 8 by tonedawg). Tone got the mini break but netted on MP an off balance forehand. i then won a few straight points to take the breaker.

4th Set. I think i broke immediately. We then both held till 4-3 where he broke me back. I then broke him but was broken straight away. Some horrendous serving from both in this passage. We then both held until the breaker. A handful of errors caused me to go 5-0 down before holding to points on serve. He then won the point on his serve to bring up 4MP's. He made no mistake a after a short exhanged he pummelled a winner past me :)

There were some fun rallies in this match despite the lag :)

Overall im happy with my level for once and i wish good luck to Tonedawg. 8)

Likos gets past Parsons "ready to give it all" 6-7, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2

Ok guys im not gonna go into much details. It was a classic match. Parsons is for my opinion the best volleyer in tour among others. He gave me so much trouble in the first two sets and it was too frustrating for me cause really whatever i was doing he was s & v with class.

Now as you all can see i managed to find the weakness against parsons and i exploited it fully! . Then i got the momentum i needed and the result is here.

By the way, i asked parsons for a fair and clean match and he gave it to me. Apart from one hard hitting shot and drop shot from him, the match was fair.
Tonedawg or Djarvik, im waiting for you

I'm happy of my match...I played good tennis even if it was not enough to beat alex...
I tried to attack him from the beginning..also reaching the net during the rallies or with S&V...
first 2set were very close...in 3rd he broke me suddenly and I left the set mentally...
in 4rth we had both chances to break but he converted bp on 4-4
I didn't convert any bp...if I had did at least once, perhaps i could have lenghtened the match

congrats Alex..good luck for the tourney :!:
