mr devilish wrote:Apan Blod has a wicked serve and a really tall guy, alot of fun playing against so if you get a chance to play him then do!! Never seen a serve like that, maybe its the direction things will go. Ive just got him to sign up to the tour!!!

you know I need that serve right?

I am just afraid I am going to break the right stick, I cannot get enough speed unless I really jerk it hard :D , and it feels like it will break sooner then later. Am I doing something wrong?

I use both. I'm slowly getting better at stick serves, though I can't get good angles with them usually (every time I do am shocked and can't figure out how I did it) nor can I hit those nasty kicks some people can. I mix in some LT+RT serves just to change things up, because I can do those pretty consistently with very few misses, and they are always pretty close to hitting the line.

Yeah I also seem to get more balls back when serving with the stick then with the buttons. though I do love the flat serves with the stick.

yeah, effectively i have experienced some nasty kick serve, too! it bounces awfully high! it's strange, 'cause basically i find the kick serve the easiest to return. ok, it bounces a bit high but it's waaaaay too slow. but those ones, i take like 3 or 4 errors to get used to'em
funny is that if i ever try to do a kick right stick serve, i usually see a boeing 777 coming back :D

edit: anyway, the most wicked serve i'v seen on ps3 was bluebaws82's one. he does not play itst, he's n°1 of the other tennis tour site. he only had 75 or so, and 90 power...i played him in beijing olympics and i just had one break point in the whole match! really wicked, it wasn't fast but it wasn't damn placed well! and he serves with trigger and buttons  i tried every timing of pressing/releasing but i couldn't find a damn way to serve like him :D another wicked guy is kemi9, met twice on psn. basically, the strongest player i ever met since today.

If you do it right, the kick serve with the stick isn't really a 'kick' serve. It's a 'twist' serve like Edberg was famous for. It kicks very high, it's fast (mine go over 120mph), and also spins to the right (for a right hander). When you combine it with the slice serve, you create a very large area for your opponent to cover. From the deuce court, I can aim up the middle and my opponent will have to move into the ad court to return it.

Do you guys use for the directions the LEFT ANALOGUE STICK or THE PAD ??

left analogue stick, definetly, my hands are too big to use the pad :D :D
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

I have always wondered about which of the two is more precise, because i usually use the stick because it feels more comfortable but when i tried using the pad i thought that i could serve closer to the lines...

EDIT: its Nimfrodil here and i realised my bro was still logged once i posted... doh

Interesting, I've never tried the pad. I remember when I switched from stick to pad in VT3 and it made a huge difference. I was able to hit much closer to the lines and play defense a lot better. I'll have to try it out.

Can you use the pad for moving and groundstrokes too?

wow. i could NEVER play with the pad in VT3. i completely lose the 'feeling' for the game. since you can't really split step in the game, i often just twirl the joystick around to keep my guy moving while waiting for the next shot. it helps a lot and you're less likely to be caught off balance; I can't do it with the pad.

I know what you're talking about Jaylove. It takes a while to get used to, but you can do the same thing with the pad. You basically just roll your thumb gently around the pad. Actually it's probably easier than twirling the stick once you get used to it

Usually I reach 215 km/h hitting a flat serve with the buttons while I get to 240 km/h using the stick. The slice serve with stick would probably reach up to 210 km/h or so but I just don't manage to get the movement right.

The thumb eventually gets used to it ;) Mine's been thicker for a while now!

Probably hard to describe, but how on earth do you do that?
