i need some new returning strategies...backhand slices up the line can only buy me so much time.

...i also need to work on risk-shots...i've never used them before, and i actually think they're a pretty weak, "arcadey" aspect of the game, period...but it seems like everyone here is so kickass with them, that I have no choice but to set my differences aside and learn how to utilize them...I'm sure I'll be losing tons of matches 'til then...or just playing SIM.

Well welcome to ITST, but you're right in thinking that you must learn risk shots; to me, it's a necessity, I would feel helpless playing with no risk shots. I don't agree that they're 'arcadey' but to each his own I guess.

Risk shots are legal on both the 'standard' tour and the SIM tour, so there's really no escaping it (nor is there a way to ever know for certain whether or not any particular shot is a risk shot, in this game).

You're reading the old (Top Spin 1) rules for the SIM tour.

This happens often. Is there anything management can do about this problem? This is not the first time a member had done this.

i think i can pretty much always tell when someone has hit a risk shot. you can even tell risk serves from the fluidity in the serve animation.

I can tell a lot of the time, too, but there's no way to be able to know 100% of the time if any shot is a risk shot.

Thanks Slicer. I knew that you would change this information. It was too much of confusion! :P

Returning well is really difficult. Especially when returning a 90 serve or a 90 forehand and backhand player. Defending is also really tough...

My serve.

Last night I was playing Mystical Lion, and hit 4dfs in a game in the second set to hand over the only break of the match. Maybe it was his really good returning that was pressuring me )
