Mack2300 - Skill or Lag?

Postby ChunkDEUCE » Tue, 01 Jun 2010 10:01

I have literally no intentions of starting anything with this guy or anyone else in this community... But I need to address my concerns with something.

I don't think I'm by far the greatest TS3 player to ever grace the game or anything like that but, I am very confident that I have what it takes to take out many of the top 10. But anyways, on to the story... I recently entered myself into the draw of Roland Garros after my brief hiatus from this tour, all was good and well; easily taking out my first round opponent and on to my 2nd round. I had to face Mack2300, and I'll give him the fact that he is a pretty good player because we've played before on WT. But there is one thing that is always consistent with playing him--lag.

Now I wouldn't normally care about this, but recently I upgraded my console from a first generation Xbox 360 to a Super-Elite Xbox 360, and got a much better adapter. I have a massive internet connection because I share the internet throughout my house with 3 others. So it's 7MBps and upwards. Now if I cannot connect to someone without ease that troubles me... Because people I used to have connection issues with (TheSPECIALIST09 or the infamous equitesndallas) I no longer do...

So in summary I guess my question is... does anyone else catch what I'm pitching? By no means am I accusing Mack2300 of intentional lag, but more or less...: careless lag. Am I the only one who has this issue with him? If so then maybe I need to try hosting the matches against him. It also really irked me because there was more than one occasion during the match where he got that "lucky host lag," i.e. where the host's player can get to balls normally they can't. Also I felt as if the connection got worse towards the end completely compromising the integrity of a fair match.

Like I said I am really not personally attacking you Mack2300; you got the win and congratulations for it. But I just need some opinions/suggestions!

to be honest we have pretty laggy matches when we play together ( you live in the states , me in the uk ) . That's the way it is , some players you will have a perfect connection some you won't . If you are saying mack did it on purpose then no i play the guy all the time i know he would not do that . He is a fair player !!! He did not make our final purposely laggy ... why would he do it for a second round match??

First of all, you already did "personally attack" me after the match through xbox live saying I suck, have no talent, etc.. so drop the act, thank you.

Not sure why you waited until now to post when we played days ago but anyway I can assure you that the lag was also affecting me. I don't know why some people assume lag is only "one way" or that someone would cause it on purpose. Why would I want to affect my own timing on shots and hamper my movement by inflicting lag on a match? It makes no sense.
I will say though that I do tend to encounter laggy matches with American opponents quite often..though I think this is due to the time I play these matches too which is usually around midnight CET which is probably the worst possible time to play American opponents as the lag always seems to be the worst around then, so I could play earlier in future to see if that makes a difference.

And I don't think the thread title is appropriate as it is making me sound like a cheater or something.

I can also vouch for Mack, he is a very fair player and has never thrown in any lag in any matches we have ever played, geeze I don't even know how to do that or why someone would be that sad to wanna do that.

I am sure the weasals on the world tour do / know how to do it, but not here on ITST, especially not someone like Mack.

Chunk mate, I think as Puttu said its just one of those things, it sucks yes. Djarivk and I play and he always gets lag on his side when we play, very rarely on my side....

yeah the title of the thread is a bit harsh , it's implying that he may cheating... you cant say that you are not personally attacking when you are questioning the notion that he might causing the lag.

At the end just accept the lag , no need to send harsh messages after these kinds of matches , that sucks.

sorry but there´s no need to post this...and responding to your question...skill.
I have the same problem (we all have i guess) but with other players, what to do? face it and try to play as best as possible even with that lag.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Lag is a matter of distance + connection with distance being the number 1. America - Europe connections will always be prone to lag.

Anyway, Mack has been a well respected member in this community for a long time and has never had any complaints. So i do not think he deserves this thread and ill close it.
