Only 4 top 10 players actually playing??

Is this some sort of record? I have to say it is pretty sad and the tour suffers for it coz there is a distinct lack of styles out there at the moment. Not too long ago, the top 10 was made up of the perfect balance between all out risk extraordinaires(norberto,swifty), baseline kings(joesixtoe),all-courters(picachu, anteros) even a little serve&volley mix(amazing zizou). It was like which ever top player you would encounter had their own unique style..that isn't there any more as only 4 top 10 players are actively playing at the moment for a start. I also feel this has a negative effect on newcomers to itst as they probably want to mimic the "easiest" way to win without actually developing their own preferred style. Any thoughts?

i agree i am pretty new to this and i enjoy playing and i serve and volley a little and i would like to see it more often...... i want to compete with the top its the only way to get better. i think the tour would be better as well if they were more active.....after all there is no way to improve if ur not being challenged by best....... i want to win and knowing i did it against a tough opponet.....

Totally agree. The problem is that nobody wants to gimp themselves by having a volley stat higher than 40- commom wisdom being that those points are more useful ANYWHERE else. There are a few guys who can volley well with 40-50, but the timing is so strict it's extremely unreliable for the rest of us.
I used to SV exclusively and for a while had a great time even when losing. But sooner or later in a match 90% of people started risking every single return. I don't mind losing that way if they're all landing in, but it ended up being more like they made 20% overall. And resulted in the most boring way to win/lose possible. They'd eventually land 4/6 in some game, and I lost a lot of 6-3, 6-4 sets.
Gave up MS as a result.

yeah its kind of cool i mean i just laugh when i do it and my opponet doesnt know what to think or do and i wonder why i never see it.....however there are i do enjoy risking and i love when my opponet is playing the same stlye i love the power and its probably why i will play ts3 over all other tennis games........ but yes i wish there were more variety of play used........makes things interesting

i´m really interrested to see your style in our itst match we have to play in BNL d ITALIA .

I agree with one thing everybody reads the same stats. I've tried to be different using 70 power, 80power , 70s on forhand I've tried many. But ultimately you do struggle. I am now with a settled player I have only 40 return as everbody I know has 50 and 66 speed 54 volley even though I can't serve and volley for sh@? And the rest 90 and 40 But I like to be unique. With my style of play and player. That's also why I faught so hard for a different way to set up sim. As I new many would choose the strongest and stick.

I call BS! Sorry, can't help it. You wanted a taller SIM so it would be easier to return and reach shots....not to be unique :lol:

You are a good Simmer man, keep switching players and have fun! With your new approach to the game, I enjoy our matches a lot. Just experiment more dude. And keep invites coming!

I mean the 40-90 tour is simply boring to me personally....I know I wasn't mentioned here as a top10 (I am)....but I am sure you well aware of the reasons I stopped playing. I saw exactly what I have to do to be in top 10 and advance higher and I didn't like it. It was simply a bit boring and one-dimensional. Any deviation from the "norm" and you are at a major disadvantage.

I really think SIM offers much more variety as far as tennis goes. Yes, a few setups are more popular......but in 40-90, you have 1 setup across the border. And I truly believe that ALL setups are wining setups. And I am willing to prove it!

I don't think I faught for hight just a different way to set up, it was good at the time, I can't even remember it. It really doesn't matter anyhow, I do enjoy the sim matches alot more than 90-40. what ive realised is, it's such a power game unless you risk return it will be ripped back at you. but if you pull the risk off then it's highly unlikely the server will get in to the point so rallys are rear. The game is two dimentional but I'm an addict so I will continue. I'm pretty happy with thomson so ima stick with him. I can't be bothered to create anymore I must of created no less than 150 characters. I'm sick of it. Thebeast and thomson. That's it for me. :-)

speaking of getting back into playing. I had my first ws match in a long time verse bkristian. I cant remember the score but it was tight and he plays just like norberto. He has improved a ton since i last played

Well I mus say I agree with djarvik if u do not follow the norm which is 40 90 u are at a huge disadvantage....... I mean there is no way I'm going to win if I have 70 on volley and 60 on return I mean it is possible to still win but it is very difficult and annoying I can't stand it...

So I have been playing 40 90 it's still fun but becomes a power game it's like top spin 3 is the Venus and serena of tennis games where as ts2 and other games like smash court are the martina higgins and Caroline wozniakis of tennis... Because of the setup if u are not following the pact stas then well ur looking at a early round exit in a tourney..... I been there is sucks.....

Side note in this huge ass message I'm leaving I was delighted to play coolhand Texas nice to play against one of the best I lost a good match it's always good to lose and still be able to smile after all I lost to one of the best gg

Trust me TS2 is even worse. There is no room for a 'different' character, you pretty much HAVE TO use some kind of 10/10/10/10/10/10 setup.

with the full free setup (100-30) serve and volley is more better possible to play .
with a 100 serve -volley stat its more easy to play serve and volley as with 90-40

try out to change to this setup.
outside from itst you can do this .and you have good chances to play and to win more matches with S-V
